Search works for forums.gardenweb,not for forums2.gardenweb

Firstly, thank you for fixing the search function so that it returns current results. There is a glitch with it, however, in that users can't access results returned from forums residing on forums2.gardenweb.com. This is because the search results return function is apparently assuming that all messages belong to forums.gardenweb.com. You can verify this by following these steps:

1) Go to the Seed Exchange Forum and select "Search Just the Seed Exchange Forum"

2 Search on balfourii +linda0210

3) The following result will be returned:

There was one match.

WANTED: Impatiens balfourii

I couldn't find that message, but there are plenty more in the Seed Exchange Forum.

You also might want to look at the complete list of GardenWeb Forums.

Or, search the entire GardenWeb site for:

5) Click the Back button, and right-click the message's properties. The following will be displayed:

6) Go to page six of the Seed Exchange Forum, find the message manually and right-click on properties:

http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/exseed/msg0118570514094.html?1

I have also reported this as a technical problem.

Forgot to add that the ?# that is supposed to follow .html on messages that reside on forums2.gardenweb.com is also missing, i.e., the results returned:

http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/exseed/msg0118570514094.html

and it should have been

http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/exseed/msg0118570514094.html?1

They are still working on it I think as some searches I did this morning show results that I couldn't get yesterday. Glad to see that they are moving in the right direction.

If you read the whats new from garden web section. It states the following # January 19: We are currently working to resolve search engine issues. When searching, you may experience missing files or inaccurate results. Thank you for your patience as we work to fix this problem. Mostly likely they turned off search since they are still working on the problem.

Ditto, your cure is spot-on! I too want to know how you ferreted that out. Such a little thing as a missing 2. You either have powers of observation that would shame Sir Arthur Conan Doyle or are a closet Web Master. Maybe both? Richard

Thank you bpgreen!! This forum search problem has been driving me crazy. I wasn't having any problems with it until just a few days ago. First it wasn't working at all, then the search function started working but won't let me access the links it brings up. In a way that's even worse -- it's like it's saying "Nah nahnah nahnah nah, you're answer's right here but you can't see it" Thank you again! Danielle

The search is working, but they moved servers earlier this year and broke some links. It is usually because the URL for the thread returned in the search is pointing to "forums2.gardenweb.com/...". If this happens, go up to the "Address" or "URL" field in your browser, put your cursor behind the '2' and remove it (backspace), then hit "Enter". The url should look like "forums.gardenweb.com/..." You should then be able to find the thread.
