My Sweet Ginger and Other Assorted Stuff

We had one little day for a break and then the weather turns south again so I got home and shot a few pics before the blooms get bombarded. My young Ginger is just flat out tickling me, she started blooming about 3 weeks ago and shows no sign of letting up. These are a few shots of some of her sprays and some other stuff. Whoo-hoo, whoo-hoo! So Gorgeous Boxo! AD my faaavorite as always! but Ginger is really in my cup of Tea as well. It is Ginger Candy! I love how it winds and cascades down!

I suddenly realized that the charming Flutterbye actually has the same charming open face petal feel as the charming Phlox, charm to charm...

The Clematis Eden combo is gettin' famous at our Gallery for the duo perfection, lol!

All the squash, pumpkin etc. puree instructions have been withdrawn. Subsequent testing revealed serious problems with the product. There are density problems (i.e. heat penetration) and pH problems. The water content and pH of the squash can vary so much testers were unable to come up with a processing time that yielded consistently safe results. Well, consistently safe results and a product you'd want to eat. I suppose it could be pressure-canned to the nth degree; then it'd be safe but utterly unappealing. Then there are other problems with your sauce, the cornstarch and the oil. Could you examine what's already in your freezer? Is there something that could be pulled out and canned like berries, other vegetables like corn or beans so that you could free up space for what requires freezing? Carol

I don't think they're cowboy hats. They're pins. They're more like a roughrider hat that the cavalry wore. I thought they might be part of a uniform. The other metal pins and tags say S.&.W.E.C. and M.R.E.P. CO. Those are white rocks of some sort - with sparkly gray running through them. I don't know if that's a ladies purse or some sort of ditty bag for men. The coin purse is double clasped. The center leather piece is missing from the frame, but I can see where it was stitched at one time so that it was a shallow coin purse one side and a longer one on the other. It's about 6" long. The paint brush is as soft as baby hair and doesn't look like it's been used. The red tip on the end looks like it was put there for a reason -- dunno. Those other metal things (I forget what they're called) are like victorian souvenir advertisements. One says "Dog On" Good Whiskey (there's more writing on the back -from Kentucky; the other is from the Alaska -Yukon - Pacific Exposition - Seattle 1909. Thanks for your input.

I made this recipe last week and it was pretty good. I cut the tofu in long sticks, like fish sticks. It browned really quickly however. I didn't use the coconut oil though. Whole Foods Market Recipe: Coconut Tofu with Spicy Pineapple Dipping Sauce Serves 2 to 4 In this recipe, firm tofu is marinated in pineapple juice and tamari, coated in coconut and quickly browned in fragrant coconut oil. The chile-spiked pineapple sauce makes this a fun dish to enjoy with friends. Ingredients 1 (12-ounce) package extra-firm tofu, drained and cut crosswise into 1/2-inch thick slices 1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained well, juice and pineapple reserved separately 1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon tamari, divided 2 tablespoons coconut oil 1 cup unsweetened shredded coconut 2 tablespoons apricot preserves 1 teaspoon rice vinegar 1/2 teaspoon chile paste (optional) Method Arrange tofu slices on a double layer of paper towels on a large plate. Top with another layer of paper towels and set aside to let drain for 5 minutes; discard paper towels. Put 3/4 cup of the reserved pineapple juice and 1/4 cup of the tamari into a wide, shallow dish. Arrange tofu in dish in a single layer and set aside to let marinate, flipping slices once, for 20 minutes; drain well. Heat 1 tablespoon of the coconut oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Meanwhile, arrange coconut on a large plate and coat half of the tofu slices all over with it, gently patting the coconut to ensure it sticks. Arrange tofu in skillet and cook, flipping once, until golden brown all over, 4 to 5 minutes total. Transfer tofu to a paper towel-lined plate and wipe out skillet. Heat remaining 1 tablespoon coconut oil in skillet and repeat process with remaining coconut and tofu. Meanwhile, mix 1/4 cup of the reserved pineapple juice (save any remaining for another use), remaining 1 tablespoon tamari, 3 tablespoons of the crushed pineapple (save remaining for another use), apricot preserves, rice vinegar and chile paste in a bowl to make the dipping sauce. Serve warm coconut tofu on a platter, with the dipping sauce in a bowl on the side. Nutrition Serves 2 as an entrÃ©e:Per serving (396g-wt.): 500 calories (270 from fat), 30g total fat, 20g saturated fat, 23g protein, 42g total carbohydrate (5g dietary fiber, 16g sugar), 0mg cholesterol, 810mg sodium Serves 4 as a side dish:Per serving (198g-wt.): 250 calories (140 from fat), 15g total fat, 10g saturated fat, 12g protein, 21g total carbohydrate (3g dietary fiber, 8g sugar), 0mg cholesterol, 410mg sodium Tags:Wheat Free, Vegetarian, Vegan, High Fiber, Gluten Free, Dairy Free

As to aiming? Would you believe MOST of our floors are either tile or polyeurathaned wood? But did the cat aim for one of those? of course not. Well, the quilt is back on the bed, nice and clean, and it doesn't look as if she's made any more 'deposits' since. And I've managed to pretty much take it easy otherwise. Thanks for the concern, Georgysmom--I told my dr. when he released me, I'd be cleaning the house and he didn't say I couldn't. Sometimes, you just have no other choice but to do what needs doing, right? And hey--it looks as if it's been worth it. As of about 2 hours ago? WE HAVE AN OFFER!!!! Not quite what we want to sell for, but close enough that I think we may be able to come to an agreement! And we still have those other lookers coming out tonight. (cross your fingers for a bidding war to break out--LOL)

The foliage on Ginger just makes it all the more spectacular. What a lovely flower, the form and the color. I just love it. I love the warm colors!

Thanks Serena - just liver problems - have to go in for a biopsy and get bloodwork once/twice a week. Figures - I never drink alcohol - so why should my liver enzymes be through the roof. I'll update on one of Boxo's threads LOL when I find out more.
