Did something similar with an outdoor plant that was dormant the other day. I don't know what I was thinking. I didn't even check since it lost its leaves the moment I planted it 3 months ago. Tricodesma scottii. It looked just like brown twigs sticking out of the ground so I yanked it out and started beating on the rootball to break up some of the soil before I tossed it and only then did I realize there were young dormant leaves and one of the stems was still green inside. So dumb. I put it back in the ground but we'll see if it recovers from the indignity I put it through.

Roselee - When I was a kid in Indiana, my neighbor had a never-fail display of Red, Yellow, and Orange Rans in front of her house every spring. It was breathtaking. I remember getting in trouble at 5 yrs old for picking a bouquet of them...lol I am considering Mixing Salmon and White for the bed by my porch, but I think I want a multicolored display closer to the road. Question - Do they multiply well for you? Gardenspice - I have a soft spot for flowers that bloom for a short period (although a month for rans is good enough for me) For me, that short flush of blooms is extra rewarding to my efforts and the 11 months of waiting makes it that much sweeter. LOL, I also have the same philosophy about once-blooming roses, although I admit to needing a few continuous bloomers to keep me going. MissInformation - In colder climes, Forsythia defoliates in fall and blooms in Spring before it leafs out again. To me, the bare spray of branches add character to the winter garden, although some may say it's too bare for them. Down here, I'm not sure, but I think it would defoliate much later and bloom earlier. You also asked about what else I'm planning to plant. Daylilies - Artemisia 'Powis Castle' Several Crape Myrtles - Asst. Narcissus Monarda (possibly) - Creeping Rosemary Tuberose - Asst. Ferns and Hostas Wine Cups - Stachys Asst. Iris - Asst. Sedges (Carex spp.) Cascading Oregano (Origanum libanoticum) Texas Mountain Laurel (someone here suggested it - Thanks!) The Lily (and a couple others) is for my container display. I am removing about 5 Chinaberries (storms took care of 3) and am open to suggestions of what to replace them with. 2 will be replaced w/small shade trees, but the rest will be shrubs. They are in open sun until about 4:30, then light shade. I am also considering Pulmonaria for shade, but I think it may just melt in the heat. There is also an herb garden, vegetable garden and native garden in the works. I'm going to plant some cool season veggies this fall. I didn't misrepresent anything. The dealer was fine to come out this far to install the thing, but then won't come to service it. I think that's Miele's problem to fix, but we may disagree on it. Again, I didn't buy this off the internet and install it myself, I had a Miele authorized dealer install it at full price but when I need service I'm told I'm on my own. If you read my post, that's the point - service may be great in big city, but in small town it's certainly not and initially before a lot of argument on our part Miele would NOT talk with any non-authorized tech so we were caught in catch-22 (no authorized tech would come, but they will only speak with authorized tech...) If you think a tech making a drive is worth $100/hr, well then I guess you've got a lot more money than we do, but regardless they refused to come at all - they didn't even offer to come at $x/rate. At this point we've got a local tech coming tomorrow, hopefully with the "backordered" part for our "out of date" 2 year old dishwasher and will see what happens. I've yet to ask my wife if she spoke with the same number you're giving me, I know she spent at least 30-60 min arguing with Miele to get any help at all but I want to see if that's the number she called. Have been too busy with other life jobs to have that conversation but will try today before (independent local) tech comes tomorrow

Been there, done that...lint is such a HUGE annoyance to my life. We're in a 2nd floor condo where the dryer vent ducting goes to the roof through the attic over 20 feet and several elbows. My husband bought the condo years before we met, and the ducting was clogged after several years. At the time, he decided to disconnect the vent from the duct. The resulting moisture did some damage to the cabinetry (swelling of the particle board, even under layers of oil-based paint). Soon after we married, he decided we needed to fix the problem correctly. He went up into the attic and disassembled the ducting, brought it outside, and blew it out with his air compressor. I pushed some cleaning tool through it as well. We can't be doing this regularly! I mean preferably, never again! So, I had him put a filter -- a gallon paint strainer -- over the dryer vent where it connects to the machine. This clogs every month or so, we pull the machine out, disconnect the vent, clean the strainer, and put it back. This is still an annoying chore, but not the nightmare of dealing with the whole duct run. My husband had a cool idea, that what we need to do is sew a new, longer strainer that tapers to a skinny point, so that even when it clogs at the point, there can still be air flowing past the clogged strainer, and we should be able to go longer between cleanings. We got a new dryer last summer, and pulled the ducting out of the attic to clean it -- but it was already clean as a whistle. So, our secondary filter system has kept the duct run clean for 9 years. I found you can buy secondary lint traps with a door that opens to clean them out, but we don't have room to install the box in our laundry room, and I don't think it would work any better or be easier to clean than our homemade filter. When I redo the floor, I plan to put magic slider thingies under the dryer feet to make it easier to move in and out, plus I won't want to gouge my new floor. I have researched other solutions. People claim that solid metal vent will maintain better airflow than pleated, but I think it will still clog because we need 2 90-degree elbows to get it connected to the duct in the wall. And if it clogs, how do we pull out the machine with a non-stretching vent? If we could move the duct in the wall to match the dryer vent outlet, that would eliminate 2 elbows and would probably help... I also found you can install a secondary fan in the ducting near the exit, increasing the airspeed in long ducts so the lint won't clog. They cost $150-200, but if I never had to clean out the duct run or pull out the dryer to clean my makeshift secondary lint trap ever again, it would be well worth it. I also think that our ducting is leaky somewhere, because rooms on the other side of the wall (our master bath) get crusted with lint all the time. Finding and sealing those leaks would probably improve airspeed some, plus save me tons of work cleaning the lint all the time. I think the additional fan is the way to go. In 2 other areas where we replaced an ineffective low-cfm cheap fan with a high-cfm good one, like the hood over our cooktop, it made an amazing difference, night and day.
