Oh, it looks wonderful, Clare, congratulations! You may not have to wait that long to find out what color it is. I've had seedlings bloom as early as 8 weeks after germination!

Just let them grow, lol! I don't do anything special to any of them. If they are going to be repeat bloomers they will put buds on right away. Definitely will bloom the first season. Once bloomers may take up to 3 years to give you their first bloom.

These two were stratified January 1st of 2009. The seeds germinated about February 1st and these were their first blooms.

As you can see they don't have to be very big either. I've had some bloom on a plant that was less than 2 inches tall!

seil - Cute little babies! I can see that one takes after it's parent, Angel Face. I know the bloom can really change from the first year to the third. I have seen them get bigger and have more petals.

Thanks, Clare! Yes, the first blooms are usually not much to look at. They'll often add petals or even have a slightly different color when they bloom the second time. Of course some of that is probably due to the fact that the first blooms usually happen while they're still inside and by the second bloom I've gotten them outside.

They can flower at a very young age and incredibly small size. This is a two month old Pink Petticoat X [0-47-19 X (Dottie Louise X R. Fedtschenkoana)]. It's only about an inch tall and that's a flower bud on the top.

roseseek - that is impressive. I don't think I have ever had one produce a flower that early.

Here are some of my other seedlings. Unfortunately not very hardy and didn't make it to adulthood. I don't baby my seedlings and only the strong survive.

If I remember correctly, the seed parent on these were Angle Face or Blue Ribbon.
