Name That Rose!

An English rose maybe? old-fashioned-looking

The one that is light-peach color on top. It has a nice stronger scent (citrusy I think), and it's about 4' tall now. But it's under maple trees and not in perfectly sunny spot so it's harder to say what its potential might be. It also blackspots (if that's helpful for an ID :). Re-bloomer. Slightly nodding flowers (or maybe the maples get all the nitrogen and it wouldn't nod if I fed it better).

Best herbs to plant with old fashioned roses?

I grew Spanish Lavender, the one lavender that is tolerant of Florida rain & humidity, but I planted it in pure builder's sand (the same for rosemary). Both did great. Bronze fennel grew huge (as did the others), was stripped to bare wood by caterpillars, and grew back beautifully - twice. I love Lemon grass - tall, swishy, fragrant grass. I dug it up and moved it twice because it outgrew its space (almost too big to move by myself) and it kept on ticking. Hated to get rid of it but had to put the shed somewhere. Just bought fennel, oregano, marjoram, bush basil & Italian parsley, and plan to put them out among the roses so I'll let you know how they do here. Sherry

Taoseeker- I am thinking about trying a Yolande d'Aragon hybrid perpetual. Other people in the area have had good success with this rose, even with the cold winters. I'd love to try a Jacques Cartier, but I want to check at Northland Rosarium to see if it's recommended for our zone. Mariannese- Wow! You have 36 Gallicas? Do you have any pics of your garden? I'd love to see them. I would like to try a Charles de Mills, which is supposed to be pretty cold hardy and maybe a Tuscany and Apothecary rose. Isabelle- I showed my husband the picture of your grape arbor and table and chairs. I have wanted to do something similar in our back yard, maybe with my antique bricks underneath. He likes the bricks, but didn't really know what I wanted. After seeing your picture, he thinks it would be a great idea! Yea! and thanks :)

We are leaving to go to Florida for a week next weekend and I am not sure I could meet up with you before then. Trying to get organized for a week at Disney World. If no one has claimed them and you still have them maybe I could get them sometime after we return (19th)?

I searched all names suggested on HelpMeFind, and looks like it's closest to the Evelyn or Ambridge Rose. The leaf color matches (lighter green). The buds look like Evelyn. With your help, I'm *this close* to solving the mystery!!!! :) Thanks so much everyone!!!!!!

My rose is apricot-peachy-to-light-yellowish-peach color, there's not much pink in it. From Helpmefind, Sharifa is more pink. Abraham Darby's color is too dark.

How would you describe the fragrance of Evelyn and Ambridge rose? "strong" from HelpMeFind doesn't help as much. :) Citrusy? Lemony?
