What's your favorite deep pink?

A couple of the minis I ordered this year ended up being lighter than I thought they would be so now I'm looking for some deep pink ones. Do you have a favorite?

'Prom Date' is an excellent one; deep pink verging on Fuchsia.

Do you by chance have a picture? I did an internet search and can't find one anywhere. The color sounds perfect!

Hyd. Paniculata Quick Fire is a easy early bloomer that grows to like 6-7 x 6-7 pink that turns to rosy pnk in the fall. Hyd. involucrata is a lacecap that is small, 3-4 x 3-4. mine goes pink to lilac. Hyd Minnie Penny, you could turn it to pink and its only 3 x 3. deadhead and it reblooms. real easy Hyd Serrata Miranda is a 4 x 4 thats one of my favorite. It goes pale pink to red. Hyd. pan. Dharuma is 3 x 3 white to pink Those are some that I have that come close to pink I guess. A lot of the well know easy blues you could change over to pink like Endless Summer and Blue bird etc

Alice Goodman is my favorite pink. I have it next to Beverly Sills, and in my garden, they are the same color: a beautiful warm pink. Alice Goodman is a bit bigger and has more ruffles. The foliage is really a nice blue-green. Alice Goodman reblooms. If she likes cool pinks or hot pinks, that's a different matter. One that I just bought and have not yet planted is Jennifer Rebecca, another rebloomer. I think it is more of a pale orchid than a cool pink, but most call it pink. My mom has Sweet Musette, which is just a beauty and very tall. It has cool pink and warm peachy colors. Lady Friend is a deep rose that changes color all day and is a very early bloomer. I have heard that it reblooms occasionally in warm areas. None of these are fussy irises. If they can bloom for me, they will bloom for your mom. Renee

I grew a Julia child last year. Fantastic taste, low production. I also had brandywine that was very productive for me. My other brandywine from a different seed source was not as productive. Go figure. I saved seed form the productive plants but I did not bag blossomos so hopefully they are pure. I will probably know shortly after sprouting because they were grown away from any other potatoe leaf type. I have two garden plots, one in my yard and a community garden. I grew these in the community garden and no one else had potato leaf plants. So if the seedlings are potatoe leaf then they are pure.

What is your favorite pink Annabelle Hydrangea?

I recently posted an article on my blog about Hydrangea arborescens so that people can easily tell the difference between the varieties (the link is below). It does not include Invincibelle Spirit I because it is no longer on the market having been replaced by Invincibelle Spirit II, which has stronger stems and darker pink blooms. When it comes to size, Invincibelle Wee White is the shortest followed by the other dwarf varieties Mini Mauvette, Ruby and then Limetta. The rest are larger, full sized plants. In the North, these plants flower best in full sun. In the heat of the South, some shade is recommended. Please note that Hydrangea arborescens takes a few years to build up its structure to look its best. The blooms age better with a mature root system. When it comes to pruning, I think that shearing off the old blooms in the spring is best. If you are a perfectionist, you can remove the smallest stems that are less able to hold the blooms. Cutting the plants back harder or to the ground produces larger flowers, but also softer stems. The Invincibelle series is unique in that you can cut them back after flowering and they will rebloom. Annabelle and Incrediball are not rebloomers. In addition, Invincibelle Mini Mauvette is not a strong rebloomer. The Plant Hunter Blog - Hydrangea arborescens

I don't understand why its not more popular either. It is a terrific color that reminds me of some of the deep magentas found in Indian Sari fabric. It reblooms very well and has very good vigor. I think it is an excellent rose in all respects, so go for it!

Louisville Lady is gorgeous. Doris Morgan is also pretty. Camden is classified as a mauve, but to me it's sort of on the dark pink side. And it's growing very well for me.

Do you have a picture of Louisville Lady? I did a search and couldn't come up with a picture of it either.

Decobug - If you could only have one, which one would you pick as your favorite?

Also, I was looking at your website and saw that Saint Mary is listed under Micro miniatures. I was planning to order it next spring but I thought it was a regular mini. Are the flowers really tiny?

Thanks for the heads up about the website. I had Saint Mary in the wrong place, so I moved her... :(

She is a normal miniature... One of my favorites actually... That color of purple is very rare in miniatures... She is about the same size bloom as Starina.

Picking favorites is hard...

Gala is a very nice deep pink color. However the blooms fade and quill as it ages, so it would have to be deadheaded more often to have the bush looking the way you want it to...

Live wire is perfect colorwise. As per most micro-miniatures it does get minor blackspot. The bush would have to be several years old to make any sort of color impact since the blooms are so tiny.

Doris Morgan is a very nice deep pink color with white interior. However the blooms fade and quill as it ages, so it would have to be deadheaded more often to have the bush looking the way you want it to...

Marriotta always impresses me and is so darn cute. Not HT bloomform however, but cute cute cute! Hard to come by actually. The white edges are very unique. It always gets comments.

Kayla would be perfect if it wasn't for the slight PM. Needs to be in an airy sunny spot.

Ace of diamonds is listed as a medium red, but looks pink most of the time. I shovel pruned it...

Hi Ho very slow bloomer, so can't say anything about it, it hasn't bloomed this year yet...

Norwich Sweetheart shovel pruned due to disease

Winsome, no faults, listed as a mauve but it is always fuchsia here, not neon pink like Electron, but definitely more pink than say Purple Passion type color.

Another possibility that I don't have is China Doll. Another is Wild Plum, which again is listed as a mauve but looks fuchsia.
