Happy T-day

Although Thanksgiving is an American tradition based on a rather exagerated feast, the idea of giving thanks for the good things is always a nice idea. So let me offer my thanks for the wonderful plumie flowers that brighten our summers, the glorious plants that pull money from our pockets, the kind friends who share our addiction and love for these costly little devils, and the people who share their experiences and knowledge. Like the early settlers, we fear the winter and hope it will pass with mimimum damage. We also look hopefully upon the return of spring and the beginning of new crops. So in the spirit of the ancient harvest festivals, may your winter pass quickly and open into a lovely spring leading to a blossom filled summer. Bill

Thanks everyone for all the advise, chatting and sharing with friends who share a love for Plumeria. Yes Bill, A mild winter, early spring and FLOWERS!!! To our friends in cold areas, keep them warm and toasty.

What a lovely message...thanks Bill for your thoughts. I consider myself still a relative newcomer to GW and a novice, but have made many 'virtual friends'. Thanks to GW and it's forums I have learnt a lot.
Yes, as you say, it's a US festival, not one we celebrate back here in chilly/foggy/wet/damp ole Blighty...but I too wish you all...'ALL THE VERY BEST'.

Thanks Zeffy. I always have my father & his brothers & brothers-in-law, the whole generation really, on my mind at this time of year & again on Veteran's Day, Pearl Harbor Day... Daddy was in the US Army, serving at Anzio & North Africa. He never talked seriously about it, always made jokes about laying telephone line & his buddies playing jokes on each other. I never even knew he was at Anzio until I got a copy of his records, too late, long after he was gone.

Happy Thanksgiving day also to all Canadian Garden Web members and happy Columbus Day to our American friends. We will be having Thanksgiving on Monday at my daughters. My son-in-law, the chef, likes to put on dinner parties, so it will be quite a feed. I am spending the rest of the weekend cleaning up my garden and getting ready for winter. Thanks for the greeting Belle. Hope your day was yummy and cozy. We had a really nice time together and lots of yummy food too. Even slipped on our sweaters and took a walk afterwards--kinda chilly in So. Calif. I was really tired yesterday, not used to being on my feet so much and being so busy anymore! I still need to stash a few platters and bowls in the big cabinet above the fridge--wasn't feeling like climbing up on the step stool yesterday. Tollpeggy, I'm planning on doing my turkey soup today, that's my favorite way to use up the leftover turkey too. Also need to gather up all my fall decorations and get them stashed in their bins and back in the shed. Then it will be time to pull out all the Christmas bins--didn't I just do that???? Seems like the years roll by faster and faster! I've got lots of projects earmarked to paint, will need to get busy and "git r done". Sure wish I had a painting buddy to sit and chat with while I paint, that would make it even more fun. Guess I'll have to settle for putting on the Christmas cd's won't I? Enjoy your weekend. Luvs
