I wait for mine to darken and then they will pop off. be careful they do not rot at the base. You can take a razor and cut them off flush or let nature take its time. They do not usually have any effect as they are usually totally done. If they try to grow a small branch I cut off because they are always sub-standard branches. Bill

I've had a 50/50 success rate. I would say leave it on for now. It's hard to know at this point which way it will go. I had an Orange Zest from Matt that had an inflo with several flowers blooming before it was ready to pot up out of it's rooting perlite. It's sort of a race to see if it can develop the roots to support the blooms. If you have a grow light of some sort to put it under at night that might give it an extra push.

I like to try to keep the inflo if I don't know what color / variety the cutting is, but since you have the mother tree there's really no point in trying to root with the inflo. Cuttings will definitely root faster with the inflos removed.

John: Thanks for the photo of the inflo. I am anxious to see how it comes along, so keep us updated. Given the slow progress I am currently experiencing with my Hawaiian cutting, and the one rooted specimen I purchased, this is amazing to me. It will be interesting to see if this one does bloom right away, or just tease you until spring. The rooted specimen I bought (my WalMart special) has three branches, and is putting out lots of new leaves, but no sign of any inflos. It went through a nasty attack of spider mites, which seems to be under control now, but it left the older leaves pockmarked with little yellow specks all over them (not sure if that was the mites or the multiple solutions I had to use on the leaves to get rid of the mites). The new leaves are healthy, but it will be a while before the plant looks good again due to the previous leaf damage. I have mine indoors under grow lights to see if I can keep things going through the winter here in Boise. I would like to try some seeds as well, but won't try until spring gets back around this way.
