Come visit us over in the hot pepper forum then, we'll be happy to tell you our hard earned war stories about dealing with superhots. A few words of warning in the mean time: 1) Buy vinyl gloves now. Not latex, vinyl. You *MUST* wear gloves at all times while cutting those peppers. They are hot enough to burn your skin, and the capsaicin will bleed through latex. If you have a nurse friend, ask them to teach you how to take infected gloves off. You'll thank me later. 2) Never go to the bathroom the same day as handling the peppers. Trust me on this. Even with gloves, even with hand washing with lava soap that make your hands raw, the first time you go pee after cutting superhots you will regret it. Oh holy hannah will you regret it. 3) Store your peppers whole. Do not cut them, do not prepare them in any way unless you intend to use them then and there. I had a friend that lived across town that wanted to try one of my bhuts, so I cut it up into 4 pieces, put each piece in it's own little baggy and drove across town to give them to him. Half way there I could smell the peppers through the bags. 3/4 of the way there it became like mace. By the time I pulled into his driveway my eyes were watering so badly I could barely see enough to keep the car on the road (and it was middle of winter so I couldn't roll the windows down without freezing to death). And that was for a bhut, which is milder than a Butch T. 4) Never, *EVER* be tempted to eat one yourself. This is the big one. You will want to try one after you put so much time and energy into growing them. You will think its only fair that if you're going to say you're man enough to grow them you have to be man enough to eat at least one. Don't do it. The flavor of superhots is soul searing pain followed up by the aftertaste of wishing for death with a slight dash of "Oh sweet Jesus, what have I done?!?" Not that this warning will do you any good, it didn't do any good for me either. I had to try one, and it was half an hour later before I stopped praying for a merciful death, so you'll probably have to learn it on your own as well. Never. Eat. Superhots. =)

The picture that Hills gave looks just my hoya's leaves it also has white flowers with red centers like my friend says hers has. I would love to post pictures but don't know how yet but Toni (hopefulauthor) has voluteered if i can get with her. I also just realized that the hoya cuttings that I have rooting( which i saw today do now have roots in their little pots and baggies)are also the same kind and off another friend's hoya that is about 45 yrs old. Oh my these get large and I now have 6 hoyas and 3 of them are the large climbing ones. Gee i will have a jungle and I am complete with the birds that I have too.Well what an challenging and wonderful problem. Ann in So Ut

My water rooting didn't go too well but that could have been what I started with. I'd had a 4 tip branch that broke very close to where the multple tips split so there was very little stem to work with. I tried soil but that didn't go well so I cut apart the individual tips and put them in water. The ends got mushy but the cutting was kind of pathetic to start with by the time I decided to put it in water. I ended up tossing the cuttings, or so I thought. I just got back in town and took a look at my plants. I found a plastic cup of water that I must have thrown a very tiny (3")cutting in by accident. It had been pretty much submerged on it's side for the past couple week and has little root nubs forming along one side of the cutting! I'm not sure what to do with it so I tossed it back in the cup. lol If the roots continue to develop maybe I'll plant it on it's side in some soil. Stemn to answer your question about changing water I usually use an air stone when I'm rooting cuttings. The bubbles keep the water from becoming stagnant. If you don't use some type of aeration I'd change the water every 3 days. Karyn

Im up to my 3rd week water rooting now. I read on another thread not to leave them in water for more then 3 weeks. So at the end of this week if they still dont have roots coming out what do i do? Pot up in soil? or keep water rooting? i checked the bottoms of all of them and u can see little nubs but they are not doing anything further. Also i fear one of them may be rotting. Its not soft or mushy or anything it just have a small browny black hole at the bottom. I was thinking of taking it out and dusting with cinnamon and then putting back in fresh water. What do you's recon? Sarah
