I'd just keep it in a bright spot where it will get no direct sun until you see signs of new growth. It'll take some time to adjust, but it sounds like an australis, and they're pretty tough plants. If it is australis ssp. tenuipes (smooth, shiny leaves), it'll need a big trellis to grow on. If it's autralis ssp. australis (slightly thicker fuzzy leaves), it grows more bushy.

Denise your the best thank you. It has the smooth shiny thicker leaves. She keeps hers cut back to make it bushy I had to laugh since she was telling me not to expect many flowers since it does not bloom often, well it couldn't if you keep cutting it to keep it from getting long vines. I put mine in a really red pot and against the green leaves looks very pretty. The window it is in gets bright afternoon sun. Thanks again

Does your glazed pot have a drainage hole? That's a must, even if you could only fit them in a smaller pot.

Yep got a nice drainage hole and good,quick draining soil.Thanks for checking on that as I have seen some that do not and couldn't figure why you would use them unless you used it as the "show" pot and then have the"ugly" pot hidden inside. It wont be long before it could use some type of support. Some of the vines are already 12" long. Never thought i would have one that gets really large.

Good luck with your new plant. It may also be a carnosa. Have a look at the image posted below. With thick leaves and the fact it's been around that long, that's what my money's on.

Hills, my thought was that it would be unusual to see an australia that would have been around that long, too, but white flowers with red centers didn't fit the bill. But I know there are clones of carnosa that have flowers that are so light pink, they're nearly white, but centers are still darker pink. Also, the aggressive growth habit sounds like australis ssp. tenuipes. My carnosa puts out plenty of new growth in spring, but nothing like australis!

The picture that Hills gave looks just my hoya's leaves it also has white flowers with red centers like my friend says hers has. I would love to post pictures but don't know how yet but Toni (hopefulauthor) has voluteered if i can get with her. I also just realized that the hoya cuttings that I have rooting( which i saw today do now have roots in their little pots and baggies)are also the same kind and off another friend's hoya that is about 45 yrs old. Oh my these get large and I now have 6 hoyas and 3 of them are the large climbing ones. Gee i will have a jungle and I am complete with the birds that I have too.Well what an challenging and wonderful problem.
