question about rooting sedum late in the year

I know sedum roots easily and I might have gotten over-confident. I stuck cuttings that still had the flowers on them. Has anyone ever gotten them to root that way? I'm guessing I should go ahead and cut the flowers off. Is it necessary? (There's a whole bunch)

They're inside in a sunny window right now.
