Each year I grow a "Fish Pepper" plant simply for the novelty of the plant. The leaves are varigated (green and white) and the fruit is striped, starting out with green w/ white stripes, then red w/ brown stripes. The fruit itself is not hot in the grand scheme of things. I would place them (and this is subjective) at 1/3 the heat of a jalapeno. Hope that helps!

Every year I grow eggplant and peppers in my front flowerbed, using leaves and/or fruits as the color scheme, as I do not plant anything unless edible! I have used many types of peppers - trifetti, maui purple, white bullet (yellow peppers), chinese multicolor (starts puprle, then yellow, orange, and red), bulgarian carrot, and thai nippon taka (grows clusters of long, red peppers, pointed up), to name a few. Unfortunately, peppers love heat, so this may be a problem for you there. A few of my pepper varieties were sort of stunted this summer, until a heat wave we have had in the last few weeks, when they took off - trifetti and chinese multi being two of these.

There are many colors of chiles and foliage. I would suggest looking at a chile database and choosing what you like best. Try www.thechileman.org ,you will find hundreds of varieties to choose from with pics.

I like Five Color Chile: as they ripen you will eventually have all 5 colors at once on the plant: creamy white, purple, yellow (vivid yellow), orange then red. This year I got Twilite hoping for some pretty color.
