Just finished my very 1st swap got Q's please help

Hi all,

I just got finished with my very 1st trade/swap and the box I sent out was 3 or 4 times larger than the box I received.

I sent more than enough postage obviously.

the hostess raved about how wonderful my plants looked.

But I got back very few good looking plants a couple iffy's and some that are sad to say gonners.

bad luck for a newbie or should I complain?

I sent an e-mail to the hostess and I'm waiting for her reply, just a few hrs.

One of the good looking plants is so awesome i feel just getting that one was worth my shipping costs.

what should I do?

Hi Laura try to work it out in a email between you two...If that does work..Please utilize the rate and review...Leave a honest review and only state the facts that happened in the swap.. I hope it works out for you :) Barb

ps Did you get your postage back that was due you? You might ask the host about this in your email..Good luck Laura

auntyara: I'm presuming that it's the same swap that I was called a liar and a backstabber in. This is totally unacceptable and horrific behavior for a GW trader. Attacking someone for posting true and honest feedback to a fellow trader is not only childish but vicious! I think intelligent GWÂers can see just who the problem child is when they check the R&RÂs. I can only speak for my own experience on the issue, but know there are far more than me who were taken for a ride. Now the sob stories come out about how this person is being unfairly treated after many many issues that have followed this GW trader around.
You need to post an honest, non emotional and truthful rate and review of this trader. Stick to the factsÂdonÂt get emotional or critical. Spell it out like it happened. Currently there are several trying to bury the one truthful review that was posted, but hopefully many will see just what has been going on over the many years of this person's trading.

Polygonum, I did get a start of the Zauschneria for you, but it's very small. Keep it in the pot till the end of October, stick it in the ground, and by the end of next summer I think you'll be shocked! I'm also gonna dig up and pot some before I do it in, so if they make it over winter, you can get another, bigger one then! Also have the mint cuttings for you. With the aloe and other succulents, just bring a start for whatever you can easily get a couple pieces or leaves off of. They all sound like fun! The black aloe sounds especially cool! I'd especially be interested in a couple little stem pieces or leaves from the tri-color jade. I tried that one one time before and couldn't get it to go! Would love to try it again--I think they're so pretty! (I'll pass on the Kalanchoes you have for now. Need some practice on the "regular" kind first!) GardenFiend, the only thing I'm taking dibs on this time is the chocolate mint cuttings--and I have some marked for you. Having just gotten back from vacation, and with all the computer problems I've had since I got home, I just don't have time to keep track of all the other stuff. Since there aren't gonna be many people at this one, chances are you'll be able to get the things you want the most in the first two rounds of picking. I'll have a few packs each of four of my different sedums this time--unrooted cuttings, with instructions if you need them. Also will have one of my Semps in pots, 4 of them I think it turned out to be, and one of them in bags, unrooted--so 2 different kinds. Most of my semps got really bashed in from the hail this spring, and had to pull a bunch out. Then I pulled out all the ones that bloomed--more than normal, and then I was pulling out chicks for a few people over the summer, and now there aren't enough left to give away for the time being. Depending on how well they recover over winter and early next spring, I MAY have more at the Spring Swap, or probably the Fall Swap if not then. I was thinking earlier today that if the people on RMG that are into them would each buy one or two new varieties, when we started swapping them, we could ALL wind up with a bunch of new varieties. Kind of like a chain letter, plant style! I'm also bringing some extra packs of the chocolate mint cuttings. Sorry you can't make it this time, Misty. But--I wouldn't pass up a chance to go boating on Granby and to see the Colorado Gold either! Happy anniversary! Have fun! Gotta go! I finally got my pot luck dish done, but still have a LOT to do! It is a little overwhelming to start. You have the functionality aspect of planning the bathroom and then the fixtures/look aspect. I definitely find it less exciting to research the functionality options but that usually ends up being where I wished I spent more time. For the functional - some of the things I think I remember is making a decision - do you want your vanity standard at I think 30 inches (this is our hall bath) our taller at 34 1/2 (our masterbath), or even taller at 36". The 34 1/2 is definitely more comfortable for me than when I use the 30" tall vanity in the hall. Someone else made the point of working around the pipes with the drawer so you can gain more storage. I wasn't able to get that in the cabinet line and every time I see the false drawers I think of what can't be stored there. You may also want to think, where else can you get more storage. In one case - had a niche build in the wall and added a glass shelf - this it the side wall that is next to the vanity. With the fan - someone mentioned making sure it vents properly thru the roof. In addition to that, you may want to see if a skylight is possible and how much it would cost. I wasn't a big skylight person (worried it would leak), but now I love having the extra light in the bathroom and extra ventilation. Not sure if you decided on a grab bar for the shower. Also if you are going with a shower niche (they have the plastic molds that can be tiled into the shower - I think that is easier for contractors to work with, but it is defined sizes) For the fixtures - I used faucetdirect with no problem and did a lot of online shopping. Where I had problems was with the valves and drains and I am not sure if that was because I didn't utilize the sales people enough or that you had to be familiar with my setup specifically to know which product. In one case, the drain wasn't quite right even though it was recommended to go with the tub. The contractor made it work. In another, luckily my contractor told me to order the pop-up drain for the sink. That's another one that doesn't necessarily match for me online. Since my faucet controls were in the wall, I needed the popup drain in the sink. With the valves, in a custom shower, I didn't do my homework on the 1/2 inch versus 3/4 inch and that I needed a transfer valve to switch between the handheld and the main shower. Last thing - I think the tile from HD or Lowes is fine. Tile can get pricey and that is where I wish I had found something that looked nice but was less expensive. If you do want to splurge on something - maybe look into the Benjamin Moore Bath and Spa line paint. It is made for bathrooms and has a matte finish.

See, I'd just tell my DH that he could enjoy the sunrise while he's doing the laundry rather than while he's making coffee! ;) I kind of like the look of latest rendition, but I'm not loving the function. Leaving the laundry in the MBR would kill it for me. I know you don't mind it, but I can't imagine that it wouldn't be a sticking point for some potential buyer down the road. It would be for me. The issue raised earlier about kids having to come in the parents' room to do their laundry as they got older would be even stickier with the addition of another bedroom--i.e., room for a second kid with laundry needs. Could your stackable W/D fit in that closet area in the mudroom? Also, how will you use this desk? Will it become your home office space? If not, it seems like it would become a clutter magnet, ruining that nice view. I still prefer the rendition above where you reuse your sink and five-panel door. I think it makes the space far more useful in a house where useful space is at a premium.

I'm too upset tonight. I've talk to chemcurl briefly on the compost forum about our hatred for bethlahem stars I think. She seemed sweet yet gutsy.

I just found out that this trader was not only banned several times, but is also selling these items via ebay.

Isn't that a violation of of GW policy?????

Today I sent chemcurl an email asking her to look at this post.
I don't want to start trouble but I think I stepped into it!
I will post an honest review but I'm to upset still.
I know It must be unemotional.
I don't want to spread any roumors but the things I've been hearing about this hostess are terrible.
I'm shocked on how I, and others were traded with.
she claims that certain others are busy bodies. and mean.
I'm just very confused and upset
sorry for going on and on.

Laura that was a honest and factual review! I know it was difficult being new here..Think of all the newbies you are protecting.. Kudos to you for protecting them... If you ever want to trade my garden is open to you!

I'm so glad you were able to post an honest review. Many have been afraid to post the truth due to past issues. I'm so proud of you for having the courage to move forward and post the truth.

It's so sad to see a member prey on new GW members. Well, I was also new when I started in with the one I posted for. I believe this member keeps the good stuff for her friends and takes from the new users. I so hope that the other member returns who was also a new GW member. As I stated before, there are SO many honest, friendly and generous traders here on GW. If my trade with the individual had been my first, I may not have come back, but I had many good trades first. If you have a question, please know that the door is open for an honest answer.
