Can I mix different hot pepper species in same pot?

I just bought a few small plants from the store: Cayenne, Thai hot pepper, and Habanero. As they are small, I planted them together in the same 12" round pot with potting mix from the store and compost.

Is it ok to keep them in the same pot? I know I may need a bigger pot some day but my wife likes to see them all together and i think it looks nice too. But more important is the ability to produce peppers to eat!

The soil/compost is a temporary solution to get them out of the little pots from the store. I plan to make some mix that works amazing on some of my plants: granite, diatomaceous earth, and fir bark (per Al's gritty mix) and another part coconut husk and chopped sphagnum. I figure the peppers need a better draining soil. Does this sound like a good plan? Will the soil/compost mix work ok in the container for a little while?

Thanks for any advice. I have never grown peppers before!
