Regarding question one;

Yes you can, but you may eventually have to remove one from the pot. I found that even the same species of plant if planted with itself will very frequently try to push out or "fight with" the other plant. Heck, even one of my variagated Euphorbias was split into two, repotted together and fought with itself over the space. This created a rootball of technically speaking two plants that is difficult to water completely. (It needs a gallon of water where if it wasn't a rootball and was a single plant, would probably only need a quarter of a gallon)

As for question two I am fairly certain it is not possible to raise the soil level in that pot without disturbing the new cuttings in some way. That being said I will say that I think there may not be any problem with the way it is now, you could be planted too low and as a result the plant bases become too shaded, you could be fine. Just wait and see is what I would personally do. For your next plants, my advice is to always place the plant at the point of where you're going to bury it as close to the rim of a pot as possible. This includes the soil with the thought kept in mind that it will sink a little bit. Air circulation will be better, the plant will be healthier overall, and possibly fewer pests. It will always sink in a little bit, but the closer to the lip of the pot the better.

I have a hard time judging pot size w/ these Houzz pix, depth too, so hard to answer your question.

But pls know these are not delicate or fragile plants. Should you wish to refill the pot & reseat the cuttings, it won't harm anything. Not saying you should, just that it wouldn't hurt them if you chose to.

Don't really think it matters, the dappled light these plants like should still be able to reach them, given a good location (bright, indirect light).

I wouldn't be concerned if it were me. I tend not to mix bloom colors in the same pot, but that's more abt personal preference.

Hi everyone! I would like to further comment and update. I have a few small cuttings of Thanksgiving cactus. And have noticed that different TCs have different shaped leaves and different size blooms. There are so many different varieties. ALL of mine were purchased at a supermarket. Due to shortage of space, I have had to pot some different varieties together. I do like the look of the different color blooms in one pot. Some varieties will bloom better then others. I still root in water and then plant in soil when the roots grow to about 1/2 to 1 inch. This has worked consistently for me and I have had more success with this method then just popping the cutting directly in soil. I do let the cutting dry out for about 2 to 4 days before sticking it in water. Then it takes a months to root. The lighter the soil the better, but I have had success in all types of soil. I water every 7 to 10 days and this seems to be a good schedule. I do not give them a good dousing ( like I use to) but rather water sparingly, but adequately. To control those pesky gnats! : I use apple cider vinegar in one of those apple shaped traps. This seems to keep the pests at bay. And as I stated, I try to keep the soil drier between waterings by watering less. Here is a pic of my favorite blooms this past season! Thanks to all for sharing!

Some settling is normal, but over an inch seems to be lots. I am wondering about soil you are using. Further you mentioned fungus gnats. They like wet-moist environment, and more organic matter. What you are doing is controlling them, but aim should be to eliminate them. That would be not to give them conditions they like. I am wondering if your soil retains more water than you realize? Do your containers have drainage hole(s)? - I see saucer in fiat photos so likely yes, but how about last one? Good air circulation is also important.

Your cuttings look good and so is plant in last photo. I just wonder since what you said; and if soil retains water, and if drainage is not enough, they will possibly create problems for plants. And fungus gnats will be around.

You may have few different plants, probably Thanksgiving cactus ( Schlumbergera truncata) and Spring/Easter cactus (Rhipsalidopsis gaertneri syn. Hatiora gaertneri ) that is often available. Last one could fool some ppl since it has much rounder leaves, and could look like Christmas cactus - not easy to find anymore. Flowers are best to help ID. I don't think it is problem to plant them together - except possible overcrowding and would happen with multiple cuttings. But that could take a while anyway. And if plants are healthy, full pots can look quite good :) As you said, blooming will happen at different times - so there are blooms in that pot more often.

2 of the same species in the same pot??? Course you can - I do it all the time.

Can I repot my thanksgiving Cactus and my Easter cactus together in one large pot?
