distal half of leaves brown on toad lily and solomen's seal

I'm fairly new to both these plants. I've asked other gardeners if their toad lily and solomen's seal turns brown on the distal half of the leaf and they say 'no'.

It's been suggested to me that perhaps it is viral.

I'm not googling a disease for toadlily. I'm reading they are disease free.

Perhaps it is not viral?

These are in full shade foundation plants on the N. Side and both came to me new last year from other gardens. Both plants are near each other and have or are blooming and looked fine in the spring. We have had a lot of rain. 14 inches in Aug alone. The soil is amended with compost but is rather heavy.

We are zone 5 and have not had frost yet.

If they are going to continue like this next year I'd rather remove them.

Thoughts?

thx! Karen
