A baby Cayenne has arrived

I see the start of the first pepper of the season :) Question is since thes plants are still small should I pinch the blossoms for a while till the plant grows bigger?

Is the plant in the ground or a pot? Personally, I cut off the first pod and let the rest of the buds / flowers develop.
You may want to keep the first pod, it's all personal choice, but I would definately NOT pinch the remaining blossoms off.

I agree with Paul. Cayennes are generally very productive.

It probably won't need much help.

Wow, today I received my order from Karen Newman at Delano Daylilies, and she wrote me a note to say the fans may be smaller than Florida raised DL, but I can't get past looking at the roots!!!! Plus the number of fans, I asked for a double order on Cinderella's Dark Side and I received 11 fans. Plus she sent me two bonus plants. Every DL I ordered is a very generous size, at least four fans. The BIG questions is .. What DO I DO WITH THEM?? I am depending on all you experts out there. We have had non stop rain all day and it's predicted to rain pretty much all day tomorrow along with a dip in temperature like around mid 30's tonight, 40 tomorrow high YIKES, The DL are nicely dried and loosely wrapped in just slightly damp newspaper. My thought is to wrap them back like they were, and put them in the garage for Tuesday, then start soaking them on Wednesday, and plant on Thursday when I get home from work. Of course Thursday high is going to be in the upper 60s !!! Then a stretch of at least 3 days getting into the lower 70s and plenty of sun. What do you all think? Georgeanne..your great barn got me to play and search for pics of old garden structures. I'm still in inside chaos trying to finish things and trying to maintain focus, but love my garden/outdoors so it is difficult not to go there. My shed is still in the process of being finished, it has log sheathes for the outside, these are the strips with bark from cutting logs into lumber. In hindsight (as much as I love the look) I just reroofed my home and now have a monster pile of wood shingles which could have been used for siding the shed. Next idea is to use these for siding a half shed (self standing porch) where I can sit in the shade among the trees and kick back. I like rustic and have a long way to go getting the backyard in shape. Have always wanted to build an arbor with branches, fell upon a website out of Canada named HomeEnvy. This may be in the wrong thread or forum. But it has a lot of interesting diy and many fit well in working within our small house environment. The URL is instructions for building an arbor. Funny you should say that I darn near took a picture of the little one. The camera on my phone wouldn't make a decent picture lol.

It's in a large cup right now and will soon (this week) find it's way into a larger pot. I'm getting ready to harden my plants off and put them out on Memorial Day. I gave 6 plants away this past Sunday and I'm down to 31 total plants so I'll be giving more away before I pot them up.

peppermike, knowing now that you will be potting your peppers, I would recommend amending the soil you're about to use w/ composted cow manure.
Wally World amongst other gardening centers and hardware stores carry bags of the product. Mix it 50/50 w/ the soil you plan to use in your pots.
You will soon notice a remarkable difference in your plants. Mist them occassionally w/ an Epsom salt solution and you will be well on your way to some very healthy and prolific potted plants.

IMO, don't be tempted to purchase dehydrated cow manure as it can cost as much as 3x the price of composted manure. Although it is lighter in weight, the process used can lead to destroying some beneficial micro-organisms / protozoans.

Wow PepperMike. I had exactly 31 big plants before I gave away 12 of them this last week! (half of them had peppers. The Cayenne plants had some that were 3 inches long). So I got 19 left in big pots and have 9 Giant Thai's that just developed their first true leaves a few days ago. One of them I'm giving up on (much weaker than the rest). Planning to keep 2-4 and give away 4-6 keeping a total of 21-23 plants for myself. By the way, I decided to not pinch anything off. The Cayennes were the first to develop and the peppers come fast after that. One of the plants had at least 6 peppers in progress when I gave it away.
