transplanting palms

nyssaman

My wife are thinking about renting a house on the lake (north shore of lake erie)probably for 2-3 years until we can afford a house of our own. I would like to plant some hardy palms - Sabals, Rhapido needle, and trachys my question is should I just put them in large pots and stick them in the ground so they look planted for a 2-3 year period - or will they be easy to dig out of the ground at a later date. How deep and what type of root mass do these species have ie. tap root

cheers

Jeff
