Plumeria stem snapped close to the soil

What can I do to save my plumeria?

It's a cutting I got last year. It was fine in its pot on the deck this morning and I just found it toppled over. It broke and fell over about 2 inches from the dirt and is leaking clear fluid. It's broken about half way through but I've put it back and given it some support until I can figure out what to do with it. The stem has gone quite soft above and below the breaking point.

Is there a way to help it mend itself? Or if it's not likely to make it, is it possible to take a cutting from the top and try to get that to grow?

Please help! I'd like to save it any way I can!

Danielle
