Wow!!! Looks great! I love the T. princeps and all the palms! Your banana plants got huge especially that Abyssinian banana! Mine is going in the ground last year and I would be excited to see it get HAlF the growth yours got! You will definitely be getting some fruit soon! Cactus and yuccas are looking fantastic too! That madagascar palm looks really nice. Is the pot in the ground? It must be really hard to dig the pot out of the ground with all those spines on the trunk! The thai black banana looks really nice. Mine was doing good but its on its way out now. Im hoping that it will make a comeback when it goes in the ground next year, if it lives that long.
The growing season is going to be ending in the near future, but it looks like all your plants soaked the warmth up and are definitely bigger and better than ever before!

I posted a pic of the Compton's with the bark ripped down on the post that mentions the tear, Dax. I have 3 Compton's oaks. Here is my Beech Johnd And last but not least the pics I took today of the late drop "L.O." Plus the green trunk I saw the other day, but can't seem to see well in the picture I posted. I keep looking at the buds stubborn but there. I look like an idiot insisting it's going to leaf out, but I see signs it will and when you see the first of the 2 pics here, you will see what I mean. I was ready to rip it out and get another tree, but it isn't dead. The pics with the envelope in the background were taken about an hour ago. Here is the trunk pic from a couple days ago, you can barely see the green right below the slight scrape It isn't as noticeble now on the tree. the green is best seen at the bottom of the scrape. When you see those buds on todays pics don't you think it is going to leaf out? I saw my dead one with no buds. I have plenty of weight on me without getting a Walnut tree,

Diana & Karen, that hummingbird has been taunting me all day, LOL! Here is a picture of him sitting still, but it was taken through my kitchen window. Everytime I would go outside to get a closeup, he would start flying around from flower to flower and I couldn't keep up with him. They'll probably only be here for another week or two, and I am determined to get a real clear closeup of one before they go!!! Diana, the plant next to the Dianthus is Alyssum 'Golden Queen'. It was wintersown this year, but it didn't bloom this spring, so I'm looking forward to seeing it next spring. I have to agree with everyone about the Solidago. It only blooms for a short time, but when it does, it is a showstopper! Bonnie

Here in the bay area, there is little to complain about. Currently blooming: rose 'honey dijon'-- interestingly, the hard frosts we had in January have put some red streaks around the edges. Unusual, but nice! lots of pansies--mine are beige-pink-terracotta and black species violets (sweet violets) brugmansia 'charles grimaldi' various snapdragons various geraniums (pelargoniums), though my favorite now is 'solstice chocolate'-- nearly black passiflora caerulea lotsa daffodils and grape hyacinth, though I'm most excited about the muscari plumosum (feather hyacinth) which is budding but not quite ready yet primroses (I hogged up all the ones with silver brushstrokes on the petal tips) and also gold laced scarlet and silver laced black primula victorianas And dammit, my brugmansia sanguinea (scarlet angels trumpet) aborted the one bud it had finally rewarded me with. @kel_kat5 There are many ergonomic factors that need to be considered when determining sink depth. Double bowl sinks need to be deeper because large items, such as cookie sheets, trays, and other large items will not fit flat down in the bowl. They are generally washed by putting them half in and half out of the bowl at an angle while washing the bottom half, then flipping it around to wash the other half. These sinks should be 9 or 10" deep depending on your height. If you are shorter than 5'4" or taller than 6'0", I would suggest a 9" deep bowl. A shorter person and taller person will find it uncomfortable to reach down to the bottom of a 10" deep bowl. The best scenario, in my opinion, is a single bowl sink with a rear corner drain. That allows the user to lay large items flat down inside the sink to wash them without covering the drain. In this case, the sink should be 8" deep for most users, however, the same situation is true with shorter or very tall users. The bowl should be just a tad shallower. The reasoning here is that the user will be working at the bottom of the bowl all the time and reaching below 8" is ergonomically uncomfortable. The drain location should be placed in the right rear corner for right-handed users and in the left rear corner for left-handed users. The reasoning here is simple. A right-handed person will always hold a dish in their left hand and scrape debris into the disposal with their right hand. If you follow the motion of the right hand it leads to the right rear of the sink. There is another reason that is often overlooked. If the drain is in the right rear, the dish will be slightly turned toward the drain instead of perpendicular to the user. When a spray is used on the dish, the water will reflect away from you with the rear corner drain instead of potentially at you when the dish is perpendicular to your body. I have studied ergonomics for 40 years, the first 20 years, as a professional kitchen designer and the last 20 years as a sink designer. It has been my passion all of those years to provide ergonomically comfortable kitchens and sinks as well as to design kitchens and sinks that save time. Looking great!!!! I'm still fairly amazed at all the growth you get up there. What size was the Red Abyssinian when you planted it? Are you going to dig it up and store it for next growing season or just let it go?

Is your castor bean flowering? Mine is about 16ft tall now and i finally see one flower cluster near the top. Have no idea if i have time left to make seed or not.

I really like the variety you have. You just need some mangoes, papaya, pineapples :)

Everything looks great Jim.I like the look of the purple Castor,different color besides green and very tropical looking also.I think I told you already that I love the Madagascar palm,it looks like it really grew this summer.Those are some beautiful Trachys.I found a website that has a bluish silver looking princeps on the top of the fronds and with the white on the back of the fronds.All your bananas look great also.Don't you just love the look of the fiddleheads on the tree ferns?It looks like you have your own piece of paradise there :)

Yea,the T.ferns have been fun to watch and with the cooler weather and 1.18"
of rain Thursday night they are really moving!

Really getting huge-the Cooperi anyway!

I forgot to mention the T.ferns(-:

I just ordered 3 Cyathea brownii and 2 more C.medularis,if I can get these through
winter they will really be the most unique plants in the garden-especially when they put out
10' fronds,which(at the rate they are growing could be next year!

Brownii is even faster and bigger than Cooperi(-:
