Dark green egg clusters

lilion

I think they are eggs at least. I have found a number of tiny clusters of dark green eggs on my garden soil, much under my tomato plants where I had my lettuce started. They are about 1/8" long and cylinder shaped. They look like tiny dark green corn on the cob and when squished break apart into individual pieces. They appear dry, not slimy. Wish I'd taken a photo...but if anyone can tell me if I should worry, I'd appreciate it.
