Egg Identification

My plants are starting to get something that looks like insect eggs. They are a tiny nit the size of a pinhead, attached to the leaf or stem in a row along the underside by a thread about 1/4 inches long.

They are really tiny. Any suggestions as to what this might be? Sorry, no photos available at this time.

I have been seeing them too and was wondering the same thing.

O.k. I just looked around and found that they are likely lacewing eggs. Lacewings and their larva are considered beneficials. Yeah.

Here's a link to a site in FL that says they are INDEED exotic, native to South America. http://www.dep.state.fl.us/central/Home/Watershed/snails/Snails.htm It seems they would not survive winter in NJ, but life has a way of getting around rules and assumptions. We never thought we'd have an over-wintering population of water hyacinth in Arkansas, and now it's poised to take over.

Not an egg sac. Instead a harmless slime mold. Yes, I know it sounds icky. But not a problem for plants or people. Will go away on its own. If you're curious look up "dog vomit slime mold" -- sans quotes.
