Need help with diseased basil, picture included

My sweet basil has black spots appearing on its leafs, and now an odd rust discoloration as well. A friend suggested I pluck off the infected leafs, but at this stage it would make for a very bald plant and Im afraid it would kill it. Can someone identify this mystery illness and please tell me how to help my poor speckled basil?

It's a cultural thing. Comes from watering, either too much or not enough or both. If you look in the leaf axils, I'll bet you'll see some new leaves coming on. These'll eventually yellow completely and fall off anyway. I'm near enough to the WV border, and I have it on my g'house basils. Not a big issue.

The squiggly trail on one leaf was caused by a leafminer. The white stuff is from citrus whiteflies and sooty mold, which occurs along with whiteflies. Don't panic. These won't kill your tree. You can hose off the whiteflies. The leafminers are already inside the leaf, so there's not much to do now, but you can control the adult form with sticky traps you hang near your citrus. The two on the left look like edema to me. As for the one on the right -- if it's scale, the critters should easily lift off wth a thumbnail.
