First two pics are of some of my California Wonder Bell & Golden Marconi seedlings & last pic is all of my Habanero seedlings (Chocolate Hab, Jamaican Hot Chocolate & Carribean Red). Let me know what you think, please. :)

Bull's Eye isn't in the Eyeconic series. It's from Weeks bred by Peter James of the UK. The Eyeconic ones are all bred by James Sproul and released by Star. But they're similar in look. I'm not sure about Peter's breeding program but I know Jim uses hulthemia persica in his to get that colored blotch at the base of the petals. There was a lot of doubt as to how winter hardy they would be because of that but because I got BE late last fall I can say both of them are very hardy for me. They both survived in the winter pot ghetto and came back well this spring. I've planted them both out in the street bed now so we'll see how they do in the ground. My Eyeconic Pink Lemonade does black spot somewhat but doesn't defoliate completely. I can't say about Bull's Eye yet because it's too new for me. Just for comparison here's a pic of EPL. You can see it's much pinker in color and while it does fade some it does not go white like Bulls Eye. Petal count and bloom size is about the same at a little over two inches across. EPL gets about 3 X 3 feet in size. No idea yet what to expect from BE. Neither of them have any fragrance.

Thank you Mary! So far so good - I changed their leaves and put them in a new container this morning. There was lots of teeny tiny frass in the container and several holes in the leaves so they seem to be doing what their supposed to do. I had another batch of eggs/babies early on - the female left several eggs that I didn't disturb ... at one time saw about 10 babies on my butterfly weed only to have all but one gone the next time I checked (later the same day.) I captured that one and raised/released it. So this time, when this one came through and laid eggs, I definitely wanted to make sure I saved some babies. I have left several on the plants too. Last year I didn't have any at all until mid to late July. I hope you get some on your return journey too! Where in Central AR are you? We used to live in the Benton/Bryant area! ~Laura

Thank you all for the compliments on my babies. I was amazed by the differences in the babies of John Peat x Lace Cookies myself...this was a cross I bought off of the lily auction, so I am not certain of it's accuracy as I am with my own crosses. Rita, I have a seedling bed that is on my someday to be terraces in front of my yard...not a well watered or well tended area, and I lost a couple hundred of my babies to slug decimation last year, so decided that that was not the place to plant little babies. We have a family vegetable garden on my brother's property below mine, and that is where I have planted this year's seedlings. Fortunately, they can be planted very close together, so they don't require as much room as the big ones do!

That is exactly what my little pepper babies look like, and we are in the same zone so I'm guessing that's a good sign! Not that I was worried or anything... *wink wink* Good luck! :D

Northern: Seed-in-dirt date was somewhere in the first week or so of March (would have to look up the exact date). I sowed them with a heating pad underneath (and some CFL light after they germinated to keep them warn & cozy) in a room with an average temperature of about 68-70. They took the normal 7-14 days to pop through, some came quicker due to the heating pad love...lol. The Habs are about 3-4 inches tall, on average. I need to pot them up soon, as they have deffinitely now outgrown the little 3 inch seed starter pots. :) The GM & Bell's are about 6-8 inches tall, on average (some bigger). I used Pro Mix seed starting medium.

Thanks tn.

I started mine pretty much the same way and had about the same germination time. Started on March 7. They were kept at 60 degrees after 1st true leaves and are about 5" tall now. Just put into 4" pots this week. Mine were in 4-pack trays and were a little rootbound. Should have transplanted a week ago. Still 4 weeks before they can go outside here in northern MN.

Thanks again, all. :) They are getting much bigger. Gotta get the Habs out of those 3 inch pots very soon.

pacey: This year I used ProMix seed starting mix (ordered online). For their normal mix, afterwards, I use a generic Professional Mix of sorts. It has worked pretty darn good for me over the past few years. Has pine bark fines, peat, perlite, dolomite & one or two other ingredients. Only $6.85/2.5 cu ft. bag, too! =)
