Hello fellow chiliheads!

I just registered today,though I've been reading this forum for several months!I see so many topics that I'd like to chime in on,So I finally joined :)

I've been growing peppers for 14 years in a big outside garden,(75 x 75).

I grow about 15 varieties and though I love the Habs flavor,Tabasco is definitly my favorite pepper!Mine grow 7+ feet tall!

I pickle alot of my peppers but dehydrate most of them for seed and flakes.

Anyway,nice meeting you guys and I wanted to see if anyone here has experience with GA3,NAA,or BAP? Ive been using them for about 6 months with awesome results!

I don't experiment with GA-3, but I am very interested in. Another individual I correpond with reports great results with it. Can you tell me more? Where do you purchase it? How do you use it?

I get very excited at this time of year, when the seasons are about to change...the warm weather is fading and the cold weather is about to arrive. And its not because I like cold weather. I actually dislike it very much. But our scheduled "purge" is coming up. Since we have minimal closet space, all our cold weather clothes are kept in big plastic storage bins in the attic. When the cooler temps arrive, the bins come down from the attic & its time to get that stuff hung in the closets...and get the warm weather clothes packed up for winter. And THAT'S when we purge. As I'm taking stuff out of my closet I think about every last item (even shoes). If the item is getting faded, or losin' its shape or I simply haven't worn it all season, its GONE. Off to goodwill. We cycle thru the winter clothes next year when spring hits. And therefore, we've kept our clothing storage down to two bins a piece (including shoes). That helps. We're also finishing up on the outdoor projects for the year (we own a fixer upper). As soon as that's done, the garage (which doubles as our workshop) will get a clean out, as well. And I gotta say, I LURVE stores like IKEA. Example: they make these rough wood shelving systems w/ protected plastic feet. Bought a slew of those for relatively cheap & have them along one wall in the garage for storage. Organization is key, as I've found. Worst time of year for us is Christmas. My mom & mother-in-law are HUGE fans of "trinkets." We get so many little unneeded trinkets at Xmas that its not funny. No matter how we try to tell them not to waste their money on that stuff 'cause we don't have ROOM for all these little decorative items. So, the day after Xmas we sort through everything under our tree. We keep what we need/want, everything else gets returned or donated. In fact, hubbie started a rule soon after moving into our home. For every bag of stuff we bring into the house, something needs to go. Its the only way to survive & NOT be surrounded by piles of stuff in our little home.

Hi Chris!,I just spray it directly on the plant..For example,I just sprayed a dormant rose in my yard at 650ppm and it has grown 12 inches in 3 weeks (thats winter growth!)last year I used it on my peppers and got small plants like tepin,pequin and z-bird up to 4 feet tall and very very bushy!But I attribute the bushiness to the BAP..GA3 is a naturally occuring growth hormone in plants,its mainly used for long stem growth and to induce flowering ..I love it,Id like to hear from others what ppm mixture they had most success with. -Kevin

I have tried GA-3 to help with seed germination of peppers. There did not seem to be a significant difference and Norman Deno, in his book, reports no effect on pepper seeds. I have not used it for purposes other than germination. In addition to the experiment below, I have tried it with seeds that did not germinate for me in other ways , again with negative results.

I also tried GA-3 a couple of years ago, also from Hudson's, and saw no effect on germination.

I sow seeds directly in the ground ,but I have had awesome results with GA3 on mature plants..I have no problem germinating any pepper seed directly sown into my garden.I do live in georgia so i have alot of growing season here!from april till end of november. -Kevin

Hmm -- I have only tried if on seeds. What kind of dilution do you use in your spray?

hi john I use 650 ppm on mature plants every 6 weeks or so... you can see it working ..Ive seen what looks like 6 inches of growth in 72 hours..I have read that you shouldnt use more than 50-75ppm for germination..but I havent tried it.I first tested a 250 ppm on crepe myrtles,,did nothing then at 800ppm on them , grew too fast, yellowish leaves ..so I then tested my peppers at 650 ppm and it worked great ..but I will need this season to test different strengths on my peppers.. I am searching for a solution of GA3(length)BAP(side growth)and NAA(roots)that will work great at a 2 week interval of spraying. -Kevin
