Do some research into 'common squash pests' and you'll discover the squash bug. It and the squash vine borer are the 2 most common pests of squash. Pic linked below. The eggs of the squash bug are dark orange, laid flat in clusters on the underside of leaves, can be squished or rub off the leaf, and it is the nymphs, the babies that hatch from those eggs, that destroy the plants. How do you know that they are not squash bug eggs? Here are some more pictures links for squash bug eggs. Some of the pics are brown for the squash bug eggs, but I have interupted a squash bug on my zucchini plants while laying their eggs, and the eggs were yellow to orange in color. When they are first laid, they are yellow orange and only turn the dark red-brown as they get closer to hatching. The link won't come up. Thanks anyway. The only m.weed bug eggs I have seen photos of are orange and red and single. These are cream colored and in an organized cluster and covered in fuzz. But to be on the safe side, I quarantined the foreign eggs. I found another leaf with them too, so I suspect it is the revenge of the Milkweed bugs. I don't seem to have the beetles. Just the bugs in various stages. They run when they see the crazy monster with the soapy spray of death (me). I am still hoping the eggs will be something neat, but I doubt it. What do the milkweed tussock moth eggs look like? I can't find photos anywhere.

Farmgardener, Thanks for the kind words. I have to confess that I had released ladybugs for years before I finally figured out what the larvae looked like....and then it was only because I saw these peculiar gray alligator-shaped things and wanted to know what they were. Much 'googling' later, I knew they were ladybug larvae. Okiefamily, You know, the larvae are actually cuter than they appear in that photo. Most of the ones I see are a lighter gray with some pale orange splotches. If I can google and find a photo of some that look like that, I will link it below.
