Just want to say thanks to everyone :)

I went to the Koko Head Botanical Gardens and enjoyed looking at the plumeria trees.(thanks tdogdad for the directions) They must have had a cold winter because the trees had little to no leaves but were in bloom. I wish they had names on all of them. It was a nice drive and stopped to look for the humpback whales, but only saw some spray. If you go, go in the morning when they are jumping out of the water, by the afternoon I think they take a siesta LOL. Got a Kimo cutting at the swap meet, but was to scared to spend $35 for a dwarf plumeria cutting (or just too cheap :P) Maybe once I get better at rooting cuttings I will try a dwarf one. Didn't make it to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, but thanks everyone about the suggestion. Wished I had known about Jim Little's plumeria farm. It looked interesting place to visit on the video.

Everyone on this board is so giving in their knowledge and I just wanted to say Thank You.

To ease your "wish I had known", Jim Little does not take visitors at his farm. He did for a time but I believe it was too time consuming and I think he had some theft problems. Most of the growers do not encourage visitors or even permit them due to the time and problems. Also, plumerias go for a short dormant period even in Hawaii. Bill

That's what made the video so neat...because not many people have had the pleasure of being on the property. That video let everyone visualize plumeria heaven on Hawaii and it's keeper...

Bill (tdogdad)...someone told me recently that JL doesn't own the property, he just grows his plumeria there--do you know if that is true?

Thank you Patti and Diana for your nice words. This was the biggest and best swap yet! I want to thank all of those who traded with me; Vicki, Margie, Jacke, Dena, Julie, Lynda, Polly, Patti and Jim and anyone else I might have forgotten. A BIG THANKS! Then I would like to thank Margie, Billy, Terri, Judy and Solveig for helping put together the swap. No one realizes the painstakingly details that are involved. Some details were forgotten, like forgetting to bring brooms to cleanup after the swap! (that was me) I want to thank Patti for going home and bringing back - not only her brooms-but her husband to help sweep up! Patti was great in helping clean everything up, as was Jim, and Julie! Many, many thanks to you! I hope I didn't forget anyone else. If I did, I apologize. Another detail forgotten was to bring an additional ice chest with ice to keep the hot dogs and hamburgers cold. I want to thank Fran specifically for going home, getting the ice chest, and filling it with ice! To top it off, she donated the ice chest to to the swap to use for future swaps. People, this brings tears to my eyes, because there are so many wonderful gardeners out there who are so caring. Let's face it! Gardeners are great! FYI: I am going to leave the haves and wants on the swap website for several months, so that if you want something from someone, you can arrange to meet to swap. We will be announcing the date of our fall swap soon and will let you know when. Keep our swap link on your desktop. Thanks to all of those who helped to donate to our swap. We are now able to use the funds we made today to pay for our pavilion rental for the fall, without it coming out of our own pockets!!! I want to thank our sponsors who gave us gift certificates. Eileen MA, Hi Ma. We used to say that it wasn't really serious to talk to yourself - but it was when you started to answer yourself back that you needed to be concerned for the legitimacy of your perspective on life (i.e. sanity). I agree! I *love* this place. We probably wonÂt begin our remodel until Spring of 2012. Just think of everything I will know by then! It will be interesting to see if a white kitchen with a white marble island and soapstone perimeters are still what I want. :-)

I do not personally know Jim (surfed with his son) so I have no idea if he owns or leases the property. I will ask Bud Guillot who is a close friend of Jim, next time I talk to him. I don't know if it really matters, he still has some of the best plants and he is carrying on Bill Moragne's hybridization methods which is why he has so many new varieties. Bill
