Thanks all! Windeaux - I sent you a long detailed email last summer with a list of rooted roses I wanted to send you, but I did not hear back. Quite a few folks out here were thrilled with the cuttings you gave me as I kept 1 for myself and gave away the remaining. Lets take offline here and you can name what you want from my rose list at HMFR, or, if there is something that Great Lakes Roses happens to carry that you would like, I can pick that up for you also (my treat since you footed the mail charge last year).

'Gentian Blue' and all other Larkspur are Consolida chinensis formally classified as Delphinium chinensis. Both the annual and perennial types were at one time all classified together as Delphinium, but Consolida was later given to the annual. Perhaps what you have really isn't 'Gentian Blue' and is an actual Delphinium. Wouldn't be the 1st time commercial seeds were labeled wrong.

Don you startled me ! Ummmmm . . . honestly I have never ID'd anything before. I have agreed with others suggestions on different posts and even took a blind stab in the dark (I guessed Fire Opal for something that clearly was not Fire Opal). I remember you posting this picture before for an ID. I should go back and look at the post. Is it blue when it comes up in the spring ? Does it have that waxy coating on the top of the leaf ? That is the first thing I would check. If it isn't blue then it isn't Elegans. With three leaves that is a hard one. Not to mention being big and green doesn't narrow it down much either. Flower color and bloom time might be better indicators for something like this. I'd say give it some more time to mature and then it might be a lot easier. I have four in my garden that I have yet to pitch to everyone since I know they are too immature for ID'ing. I did manage to ID a Francis Williams and June last year in a neighborâÂÂs garden, but he already knew what they were so I was basically testing myself. :p Good luck, Ludi

This is going to sound silly, but I remember watching "The Goonies" as a kid and thinking how cool it would be to live where it was filmed. Years later I saw parts of "Kindergarten Cop", even though I'm no fan of Schwarzenegger, and fell in love with the area. Imagine my surprise when I found a website listing both having been filmed in Astoria! That's when I fell in love with the area and after a few road trips, we have decided that when it's time for us to retire, that's where we'd like to move. We'll definitely have to stay at that Holiday Inn, Bee. Thanks for the tip!!
