Spring photos of some palms in my yard

From left to right; (short behind mailbox): Chamaedorea radicalis (Tallest): Wodveitchia, Syagrus botryaphora, Roystonea violacea. Between the Wodveichia and the Syagrus is a leaf from my Chambeyronia macrocarpa.

My Archontophoenix collection. First photo, Right is A. maxima, center is A. alexandrae (Beatrice), left A. cunninghamiana.

Tallest in the back is Archontophoenix purpurea, to the left (shortest) is A. myolensis and the other is A. tuckeri. Behind to the left is Dypsis baronii.

WOW... love the pics of the palms. I think you missed one. I believe you have a Pinus strobus also. LOL

Thanks everyone. Token, we dont have any problems with the bunnies, just deer. We have a few cats. We have 2 acres, and most of it is in the front yard. My daugher, and her baby were outside sleighriding, and their Yorkie, had to be a part of it. I had to add some photos of her trying to make it thru the snow. Everytime our Maltese or the yorkie go outside in the snow, they end up with ice and snowballs all over their furr. The only way to quickly get it off, is a tepid bath, then warmed in front of our woodstove. The yorkie just layed down in the snow, she was done before the 3 yo,lol.

What a wonderful garden. I had a birds nest in one of my Geranium plants this spring. I try to discourage them from doing that but once they are there and have eggs then I just water very carefully and try not to disturb them. I have to say that I do enjoy watching them so it's not too bad of a deal. LOL I tossed some Nasturum seeds in a new bed in the front yard this spring and they have come up like gangbusters. I did notice that the weeds and grass do not seem to come up wherever they are. I hadn't consciously considered using it in more places for that reason but now that you mention it I will now. I love their leaf shape and the colors of the flowers. You have done a great job and it sure looks better than a first year garden. And BTW, I have bought a lot of the Asiatic lilies from Walmarts and they have come back nicely for the last two years. I planted more of them this year too. Cindy

Chadec- I agree that planting them up against the house definitely benefits them, I think it keeps their roots from freezing deeply. Jim- Thanks! The Nainital is in the back yard, still in it's pot. I haven't planted it in the ground yet because I might be moving in the next year. I will probably end up taking 2 of the needles with me, and leaving one, as well as leaving the pictured in-ground windmill and sabal minor. I do think planting them against the house gives them a fighting chance even if not protected. Once I do move, the majority of my potted palms will be going in the ground. I have too many potted tropicals at this point, and it seems that in-ground plants seem to do better over winter anyway.

@mangodog thanks for the information, multi grafting is something I want to try eventually, i guess choosing the right early , mid and late season varieties that have the same growth , Id agree with tropicalgrower the valencia pride is like the godzilla of mango trees, the one i planted at my mothers house, is about 40-45 ft tall, and only about 10 years old. its easily visible on google earth lol but who knows how these cultivars will react sharing the same root stock.

The fern trees are off and running too. Dont you have a huge Bottle palm by the street? Hey,that wodveitch is one of the nicest in California.
You can never have too many Archontophoenix sp. All beautys that scream tropics. The tuckerii I have been wanting to order seeds of for years now. The green trunk is great eye candy.

orchiddude, is that the name of that Pine tree? I planted it years ago and it shot up like a rocket.

Hey...yes its that pine tree. I saw it and was like "HUH". LOL, all those palms and that poor pine tree. Pine trees come up here like weeds. You have a beautiful yard. It must be nice to be able to walk around them. I would never get any work done if I had all that. Thanks for sharing.

Its an Euterpe edulis. Its actually part of a triple. Do you see the frond? To the left of it is an Euterpe espiritosantensis (It has a yellow crownshaft) and to the right (not visible) is Euterpe sp. orange crownshaft.

Love the color in the Hyophorbe/coconut trio. Nice decipiens, too! Your garden exhibits some tendencies toward Velezity, no?
