Those are very "Yummy" looking imo, especially with the sunken walls and semi-blunt tips.

"Yummy" meaning the type of pepper, not the taste...well, the taste is excellent, too.

It turns out it's a proprietary type developed by Sunset Produce.

"One Sweet" is the name of it, but those peppers in that bag do not look like what the company claims the peppers should look like in their own advertising.

...actually, looking into the bag vs. what's outside it looks like there's a few that look like the "ideal" pepper.

It looks like they should have tried breeding for pod uniformity a bit more before releasing them on the market.

Hmmm, I guess I should have googled the company in the first place. Does anyone know why they have NO Seeds? I know the Orange Habs that I grew last year had very few seeds but these peppers had zero. It didn't even look like they tried to produce seeds.

It's odd they have no seeds. It sounds really interesting.

If they happened to develop a triploid pepper they were crossing with a diploid pepper it would produce seedless peppers, but the seed coats would still be present. It would also be a huge waste of breeding time/focus for a pepper unless the triploid appeared randomly and was isolated by a person who knew what to look for.

It could be a mutation sport propagated by cuttings, but I doubt it because of cost.

Either way it sounds really neat. How sugar-sweet are they?

Much sweeter than any green bell pepper I have eaten. I would say sweeter than any red or orange bell pepper too. I really like these fellas. Some seeds would be great but as you can see, there just are none.

From your description I strongly suspect the peppers are a hybrid variety bred for flavour - CDN spelling ;-) - and lack of seed. Similar to seedless watermelons.

Even if you did find an odd seed, it wouldn't be worth growing it out unless you had room to spare. If it's a hybrid you'll never know what dominant trait will show itself in resultant plant. You may get a sweet x type or a seedy y type or some strange non reproducible mutant in between.

That particular variety is owed by the company. however as with all propietary varieties, there are knock offs. Some will be better that the originals. Paramount http://paramount-seeds.com/Paramountonline/pepper_mini.htm has knock offs. These are green house hybrid peppers that tend to be parthenocarpic under green house conditions.

The thing that gets me is the peppers aren't even producing small/empty seed coats. That's something I've rarely seen and never regularly in peppers.

Diva peppers grown under cover/glass still tend to push out seeds or the beginnings of seeds/seed coats in a decent number of pods even if the number is tiny. These peppers don't even look like they're trying to form seed covers, the ribs and cap don't show signs of trying to pollup up on the tissue to produce a seed coat.

Neat stuff.

Quite seriously...at this point I'm pretty sure one of the parents of the hybrid line shows CMS-restorer deficiency (long story short, male sterility) from the male pollen donor and the female never produced much seed to begin with...along with environmental conditions helping the plant along.

You don't see this kind of "picky" breeding too much in peppers, though it is a time saver for breeding if you can actually isolate a stable AND (big "and") productive male lacking strong CMS-restoring genetics.

This is best educated guess I can come up with, but it could be way off.
