Thanks for the info. That was my guess, but I wanted to be sure. I couldn't pass them up. They were only $11 for both! I've never seen them for sale before. Would hanging them from the eaves on the East side of my house be too much sun for them, especially here where it's so hot in the summer? Also, what time of year do they bloom? Thanks, Elaine

Thanks guys for your help with conifer ID. I'll label grafts of the gold plant as Picea abies 'Aurea Magnifica', and the pungens as 'Walnut Glen'. I also thought of 'Walnut Glen' when I saw the last plant but I wasn't sure since, unlike my 'Walnut Glen' at home (which is a younger plant from Girard's nursery) the GFS plant had bicolor needles (blue on the basal part with a sharp break to gold on the apical part). My plant has needles which are all a single color. But I guess this variability could be the result of different site/sun exposure. The first scion shown is from the columnar 'Skylands' mutation, and the second is from Picea abies 'Aurea Magnifica'. I don't have a photo of the 'Walnut Glen' scion. Yes Jonathon I agree it is strange (and frustrating) that cultivar ID is not available. Chalk it up to the fact that this is not a botanical garden, and the plants are thought of as a backdrop. Chinese stirrup - the strap went through the slot in the top. Determining age is difficult, because that style lasted for a long time. Probably cast bronze.
