Most of us who have used the landscape fabric at some time ended up hating it. Professionals are loath to use it anymore...it's not worth the expense or the trouble. Besides, it is difficult to incorporate soil improving materials when it's covered up with that fabric. Improving the soil with compost and/or other such materials is important for the health of the soil/root system of your plants. Perennials fill in by getting wider and larger, as well as coming up from seed. That's why many have to be divided after a few years. I keep some space between the plants, so that air circulation and sunlight penetration is always optimum. Weeds are kept down by mulching and pulling. P.S. Just about all of the perennials I've put in bloomed the first year, even those I've grown from seed. The second and third year is devoted to MAJOR filling in! Wow!

dianelouise, I'm not clear on what you're asking. Are you making a stone ledge to put the tv on? We have a 52" with a bose surround sound system with small speakers (There is actually 4 double speakers, two double speakers mounted up on the tv wall -- two double speakers mounted on the sofa wall and one double speaker under the tv. Our tv cabinet is about 24" high and the tv is about 4" higher with the stand. I determined the height by putting the tv on an old coffee table, then building it up with wood until we achieved the height we wanted. I was also constricted with the width, as the wall it's on, is only 10' and then it hits the door. I like it open, and didn't want doors. We did however make a cabinet for the kitchen with doors, as I didn't want to see the tv when not in use. You have a big room, with a lot of options. my kitchen tv doors open

I did the math once. A full circle super susan gives you the most storage after a similarly angled door with just shelves that you have to crawl in to access. It's significantly more than a true blind (no access to corner at all), and pretty similar to a true blind with pullouts (the Arlosmom Costco cupboard). A little more shelf space than true blind is available in a pie cut super susan with a hinged angle door. Corner drawers (what I have) are only a little more storage than a true blind corner, but extremely convenient if you don't have narrow aisles. Magic Corners and other swing out units have less storage area because they have too have room to move. The reason there isn't a greater gain for using a corner solution is that you lose 12" linear of cabinet space on either side of the blind area in putting in a corner solution, and you lose usable space with each of the options. The big gain with the full circle susan is due to the area in the angle that cuts across. The gain with a pie cut susan is only about 7% over no solution at all. You actually get more surface area to cover from the drawers, even though there's more lost space, because you can have three drawers (or even four), where as all the others (except maybe the Arlosmom) have only two. Unless you have only tall things like blenders to store, you use more of the empty air space that way. The main reason to do a corner unit rather than a true blind is so that the doors will have more room to operate and there won't be any interference with knobs, full overlay, etc.

I don't post to "slam" people and I don't think I have ever been sarcastic on this forum. I think I am a pretty good person and don't need to "slam" anyone. But mostly I start my threads with knowledge from experience. And yes, I truly love to stir the pot, not in a bad way, but to bring back the days where we could post and not get feeling hurt. I post honest questions that make people think from their insides, and what is really important than what this forum has become. And I absolutely can take it as well as I give it.
