When to transplant sago seedlings

I have a bunch of sago seedlings that I started in a tray of coir, peat and sphagnum. When should they be transplanted and what kind of soil should I put them in? They don't have any leaves (fronds ?) yet, just a thing that looks like a fern leaf. The container they are in is only a few inches deep. Should I transplant them into individual containers now or should I just leave them be? I don't really know anything about them and received the seeds in a trade. Any info about these would be helpful.

They will do well grown in a 50-50 mix of coarse drainage material (i.e. perlite) and compost + peat. More rapid growth will occur with heavy nitrogen feedings.

They transplant well, the sooner you do it the quicker it will re-establish it's root system for more growth.

Thanks for the info. I'll transplant them ASAP. I was kind of surprised at how easily they germinated.

You should have nice plant by fall move to soil any day after Christmas until January 10th in your zone. That give time be well into rest stage for winter. And time in new planting hole so gain some rooting before buds swell in March.

No sand in the soil...topsoil and mulch in that area. So it would stick...it maybe actually 3yrs. Not sure actually...left one because ones always ask for seedlings. And I pull typically pull them out. This year...I plan on deadheading before seeds are sewn. Lol Ken...you have a real love for Rose of Sharon. Thanks for your knowledge much appreciated. ~Darlene

Basil seedlings are not people, puppies, or kitties. This is a totally renewable resource. . If you try to separate them and their roots are entangled....you are likely to damage them all. If they can be separated easily, you simply make a decision about how many to keep and how many to dispose of or give away. Composting is not a waste, it's a contribution. Next time, you'll plan better and won't sow so many. I would only use one sturdy seedling per cell.

Is now a safe time to transplant sagos? I have several in my back yard that I'm considering giving away; they were my dad's; he died earlier this year; they're just growing out in the back yard; I'd like to get rid of them; will make it easier for my lawn service to mow the back yard.
