Monday's First Tornado Watch Just Issued

Okiedawn OK Zone 7

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for this afternoon/evening that covers much of the state. It is linked below.

Tornadoes are already occuring in the Wichita, KS, area.

On the linked page, you can see the tornado watch areas in yellow on the map at the bottom of the page. To read the text of the warning, click on any yellow county and when the county page comes up, click on the "Tornado Watch" link.

The NWS is referring to our tornado watch area as a "Particularly Dangerous Situation", a term they reserve for the most potentially severe weather.

For the area from OKC/Norman both northward and eastward, the storms are expected to be ongoing during the afternoon rush hour period. The tornado watch is in effect until 10 p.m.

Expect Tornado Warnings to be issued rapid-fire once the supercell formation begins and the situation warrants.
