To combine a few answers: The patch is alongside my "driveway", I never planted a single seed or rootstock...Mother Nature did all the work, after I burned the brush out. I do alternately cut or burn it once a year..in late winter/early spring. I do this in several other areas as well, resulting in wide variations of flowers/grass/brush due to slope, moisture levels, soil type etc., but all patches lure butterflies and various pollinators. Due to limited success with purchased/planted stuff, this has become my "minimal effort" volunteer B-fly gardening technique... ; -) I adopted this method after Katrina and a minimal tornado opened up large gaps in the tree canopy...otherwise known as "making lemonade," it works for me in large part because I can burn "out there" Going offshore for two weeks...till next time.

The white lattice is the compost, and I am sorry to tell you cyn427 the ruffles are my RHUBARB ! Every time it rains hard the shrubs hang WAY DOWN over the Hosta, and then as they dry off they raise back up.. they did all seem healthy and happy this morning after the rain... My cam is just a cheap one, and takes awful quality video, and youtube degrades it even more.. I keep trying to convince myself to buy a nice Digital camera and take some better footage...When I bought the new pc it refuses to work with my now OLD SCHOOL camera..

Actually, Glenda wrote "...so some of you that aren't on FB won't be able to view it." All I was saying is that I'm on FB, and I can't see it - because I'm not friends with whoever's page it's on. Her initial statement implies that if you're on FB, you can see it.

Hi Dianela, One of my gardening friends swears by this remedy for bunnies. She told me to share it with all my gardening friends, so here you go (her words): “Here is my trick for the bunnies. Because I live across from a Greenbelt. I’m serious that it works. Fill up a small bowl with oil based hot sauce. The Indian or Chinese kind. Not Cayenne pepper which is water-soluble. Must be oil. I dilute it with canola oil. Put on rubber gloves, the thick kitchen kind. Do not touch your eyes or mouth! Do not touch your eyes or mouth! Dip your fingers tips into the oil base and just dab it on to the number of the leaves and particularly into the area where the new growth is because that’s what they like. Bunnies are not that stupid. If you do that every three months for a year they will learn that your yard is horrible! Then a few generations later you’ll have to do it again. I pretty much do it every three months. Challenge one of your friends to try it!”
