Watch Your Sun & Mon Night Overnight Low Temps

Okiedawn OK Zone 7

I looked at my NWS forecast for Sunday night and Monday night and it makes me a little nervous.

Sunday Night/Monday A.M.: 44 degrees

Monday Night/Tuesday A.M.: 39 degrees

Considering I am very far south in OK--and surrounded by Texas on 3 sides--those are some really low temps for the first week in May.

Last week our forecast one night was for 44 and we went down to 37 and had significant frost.

I'll be smarter this time and cover up my plants with floating row covers on both nights if the wind isn't too high.

So, just a word to the wise....keep your eyes on your forecast lows for those two nights and cover up any tender vegetation that might suffer from either frost damage or freeze damage. Even if your forecast looks good, watch it carefully. I'd had my overnight low drop as low as 18 degrees lower than forecast at times in the past.

I know I live in a low-lying microclimate that tends to get colder than forecast, but if they are saying 39 degrees for us Tuesday night, then I bet some of you further north will have forecast for the low 30s.
