Old Farmer's Almanac

Just for fun (and a good laugh) I just checked the Old Farmer's Almanac (OFM) weather prediction web site. For Southern New England, it predicted that December 2006 was going to be 2 degrees BELOW normal. Moreover, it predicted that the period from December 23-25 was going to be sunny and cold. As you know, December 2006 is turning out to be very close to the warmest December in history. FYI, last winter, the OFM predicted one of the coldest winters in New England history with January averaging 8 degrees below normal. Of course, it was one of the warmest in history with January averaging 8 degrees warmer than normal. I detect a pattern here. Go with the exact opposite of what the OFM predicts! The official NWS forecast for winter 2006-2007 in our area is that there is a greater than 50% chance that the winter will be warmer than normal. So far, so good!
