Prayers for our firefighters

I firmly believe in prayer and in God hearing and answering my prayers - I'm not offended if any of you don't, BUT...for those praying people out there, we really need to make a concerted effort today and tomorrow (especially) to pray for our state, pray for the people in our state, and pray for those that will inevitably have to fight the fires that are likely to spring up. How in the world are they to fight THIS, no matter whether they're career or volunteer firemen and women?!?

As Dawn said in her latest posting, we do need to be taking this threat as seriously as if it were a tornado warning. Be intentional about not smoking outside, not working on your car, not doing anything that could cause even a HINT of a spark - your very life depends on it.

While not all prayers go answered, I can't think of a single instance where a prayer ever caused damage.

I think all of Oklahoma was praying today. We had hardly any wind at all.

Glad to hear the good news. I totally get the heart-stopping feeling. When my now 4 1/2 year old twin grandsons were born at 36 weeks, one spent 1 week in the NICU then another week in the step-down unit. The other twin had blood and bilirubin issues and spent 2 weeks in the NICU, where they performed a total blood transfusion at 8 days old, then 2 weeks in the step-down and then we spent the next year running back and forth to hematologists and pulmonologists. The poor baby was a pincushion. Thank goodness that's behind us and they're both getting ready to start kindergarten this fall. Helene

Thank you, friends, for your concerns. So far, we are fine here, pretty far north and east, but these storms are unpredictable. We are supposed to get rain by next Thursday, possibly a few inches, but possibly nothing. We just have to wait and see. It is my husband's family members that live inland from the Gulf where the storm came in, that was the big worry for us, but so far, they are all right. Still, it's going to be very difficult for them with the continuing rain. We hope to hear more this afternoon as to how they are doing and whether or not they are being impacted by the continuing rain.

I think our prayers were answered here in Oklahoma, but those of the folks in Texas were not. They had the 'worst wildfire day in the history of the state' there, and one firefighter was critically burned fighting a wildfire in west Texas.

Please pray for that firefighter's recovery.

Definitely....I had heard of the fire, but not the injured firefighter :~(
