Lost but am I found?

Hi ALL,

Its been a long time. I miss being here. Life has been crazy. Last time I talked to some of you my mom was not doing good. well I lost my mom. She passed away Feb 5 2011. Losing your mom is one of the hardest things to deal with in life. I am moving to Eufaula OK. There was no gardens at my new house. We been talking to people and traded some locals and Rich was just given a truck load (I have the big dual wheel truck)of Irises. So we been planting all them. We been digging stuff up from the old house and bringing to the new house. Life is still crazy. I miss being here yapping with you'all. I am hoping as soon as life slows down I can get back on here. I will have Iris to trade..LOL. I hope everyone is doing good and I hope to be back soon. I might pop on once in awhile, If I get the chance.

Kim, today I read your entire article on HMF "I am NOT an expert" but I have to disagree, you really are!! After reading up on Renae I'm convinced that's what this rose is like you said, except it doesn't seem to have a strong desire to climb. Of course that's just for me, in my climate with my horticultural practices. Southern Louisiana is a very specific climate to grow in. I do think it's a great place for me to carry out my lifelong breeding goals since if a seedling can survive Louisiana's black spot infested humidity and heat it'll be off to a good start! Thanks for the good luck Judith! Also to anyone interested and curious, I have ripening hips on a couple of roses with this rose, 'Renae' as the pollen parent: a few of (Smooth Ballerina x Renae) and a lot of (Thomas Affleck x Renae). I bet those seedlings will be smooth as silk! I can't wait to one day share my creations with everyone!

Yep, that's it! I do have that plant in my collection. I have been a lot more lax about keeping up with the tags since I stopped selling plants, and I have a pesky squirrel (an no less than 4 large snakes) that are currently living in the GH and sometimes they are a little, um, DISRUPTIVE. My grandmother just died on this past Friday. I cannot even BEGIN to express how much I love that woman and how much she meant to me and how close to her I was... there just are no words. She was already going downhill on my birthday, this past wednesday, and frankly it was a totally miserable day for me. People kept saying "happy birthday" and I wanted to scream "I WILL NEVER BE HAPPY AGAIN, ARE YOU CRAZY?" It doesn't matter that she died two days later, I will always remember this birthday as the time my beloved grandmother died and the single most painful time in my entire life so far. I guess I'm trying to say, it doesn't matter. In the jewish religion there is no choice in burial dates, it has to be done 24 hours after the death unless it falls on a holiday or shabbat so the funeral and burial was today. No it was not on my birthday, but my birthday will be forever tinged with sadness because I think that's the day I knew in my gut grandma would not be coming home. I know if grandma could have done it any other way she would have, but she had no choice in the matter. I'm sure if your mother could have had it another way too. I probably won't get around to celebrating my birthday this year and who knows if I will ever feel like it again. All I know is that sometimes you have to put aside what you want and do the right thing... that's one of the lessons my grandma taught me.

"seriously overcrowded"? If you havent checked ammonia/nitrite/nitrate levels pls do so asap - water quality is always the first thing to look at. It can look ok but be seriously toxic. Also - what is your water turnover rate - gallons per hour - not what pump is rated for but the actual rate. Your set up should be such that the oxygenation is plentiful - no matter what the temp or whether its day or night. These would be the things to start with.

OMG Dawn you are still around..LOL.Thanks I'm just glad she didn't suffer bad. Mom's B-day is tomorrow. I was thinking of you. I was hunting Datura seeds and thought of you. I'm moving closer to ya..LOL..well OK not that close. We still have alot of work to do. there was no gardens at the new house and Rich has been working hard. But I am really hopeing to get back to yappin and trading with all the great people here.......THanks Jay for the nice Welcome.

Yep. Still here. Still talking gardening. Some things never change.

I know tomorrow will be a tough day for you, but I do hope that you are comforted by all the memories of happier times with your Mom. I lost my Dad in 2004 (on Father's Day, of all days) and I still think about him every day, and I still miss him. Since he was a gardener, I think of him often when in the garden. At first, those were painful memories, but now I find them more comforting. Someone you love never really leaves you, you know, because you carry all those loving memories in your brain and in your heart.

It is so hard to start over at a new house from scratch. I don't think I could bear to start over from scratch again, but then, we moved here with the intention that this would be our 'forever' home for as long as we live, and nothing has changed in that regard.

If I had any datura seed, I'd send you some, but since my datura reseeds on its own, I don't bother saving the seed. I can save you some seed this summer for you to plant next year, though.

I've got some datura seeds!!! Dawn - I can send them to you to forward or give them to you at the Spring Fling to forward.

njdjs - I don't recognize your screen name (I'm kind of a "newbie" but not). I still send my sympathy about your loss. It's hard. I'm going thru something similar. Yea for you on the load of iris because one can ALWAYS use more iris bulbs! Put me on your "trade list"!?! And like I've said, I've Datura seeds aplenty.

Thanks Dawn. I know mom is always on my mind. Its really weird tho. I have a kind of peacefulness of moms death. Never really felt this way about a death. Mom always told me when its your turn to go the good lord has your name in a book with the date and thats when your going. Plus I was there holding mom's hand when she passed. It was really hard and I miss her a bunch but the feeling I have is she is so happy. another weird thing. She had a house plant, when mom passed that plant looked dead. Rich took it home and watered it and later that day it looked fine. Now on moms birthday on the 18th there was a big bud on her plant. YES its hard to move and start over with no gardens. we been picking things up here and there and its looking better.

P-mac thank you. I haven't been here in a long time. Don't know if I can make the spring fling but thank you so much for the offer. I did go to one of the flings and we had a blast. Met alot of great people. I took pictures and just happen to pass by a couple the other day in my computer.

THanks so much for all the great thoughts. Ya never know I might get back here sooner with all the great people. Might find somethings I can trade..lol
