Great haul you got there Janice!

I got my first Ice Age Trail this spring, but unfortunately the squirrels liked it alot too and even before I could get it planted, they destroyed it. BUT, just last week I got another one at an end of season sale and I already have it planted and hopefully the squirrels won't dig it up.

I had Morning Light last year, but it came up with one tiny eye this spring, then just withered away.

I got a Liberty this year too and it's done great, so I'm happy with that one.

I don't have any of the others you mentioned. So do you already know where you're going to plant these? I still have about 4 or 5 waiting on the patio to get planted.

Hi Janice,
I also got one in the spring. It was a little thing but it has grown well the first year. Nice streaking and heavy texture leaves. I have heard it is a slow grower but I don't really see it in mine. It's been doing just fine. Can't wait till next year to see what it does.

I have had IAT for 3 years, and it is still 4 leaves. I brought it out of the shade, into more sun this summer. Hoping that will make it grow.

Congratulations Janice! Why did you decide on IAT? I have one and yes it is slow growing though for a tc baby it hasn't done too bad. Are you going to grow some seeds from it? Maybe this is one of those plants that does better growing with cramped roots like GE. Mine is about 4 yrs old I guess and though one eye it is a decent size plant for one that is a slow grower. And it is still in the pot I put it in originally. Have never up sized the pot.
Morning Light is a summer melt out for me. Came up looking great this year but now is almost completely gone. RF I just got this year so can't comment much on it. I don't have Xanadu. Beckoning was new last year so it is still small but growing well. Liberty finally showed the wide margins it is so famous for this year. It is a spectacular hosta. Really stands out. And TBolt is one of my favorites. Just seems to keep chugging along no matter what gets thrown at it. Definately my favorite between it and Dream Weaver.

Denise, To answer your question (sort of) as to why I haven't purchased a streaker before now---I've never really been a fan
of them. You know how we all have our *preferences* and *druthers*! :o) Actually--'Spilt Milk' is a streaked hosta, of sorts, isn't it?
So, I guess the IAT is my second one. I never could see what folks saw in SM but when I saw one this year, I thought---
"hmmmmmm--maybe that IS neat"! The ones I HAVE liked better than most, are the pricey ones--'Gunthers Prize', 'Blizzard' and
one other I can't remember right now---! Wait--is a striped 'Jewel of the Nile' considered streaked??

Janet---no--I do not know where I'm going to plant them!!! Ridiculous--I should stop with getting more--REALLY!! You'd think, losing 39
of them, (mostly those in pots) this Spring, would have given me *pause* in getting more, that will likely have to spend the winter in their pots!! Insane!!!

it was an impulse buy! I had to spend at least $60 on something, since it was the balance of some Nursery--'bucks' that I had spent on a huge set of wind chimes, that
were so heavy they wouldn't ring in anything less than a tornado, so I returned them. They were very nice about it, but I knew, that the right thing for me to do was
spend the $60, at least, of the value of them since it was the deal with the bucks! I remember our discussion about your preference of 'Dream Weaver' or 'Thunderbolt'
and since you favored it and I have seen some pics.

I was reluctant about 'Morning Light' because of the white/cream centers--again an implulse I may regret!

A few of us on the web ordered it this year. I am thrilled with mine. It has developed five eyes from one so I an hoping it will be prolific. Lets see how it does next year. Jersey yours looks fabulous. How is it doing now? It seems you have more than one eye going.

Janice.....Yes it is definately a bit more settled.....peace has returned for the most part. I am actually getting some time to work on the hostas and really enjoying it. The weather has been great lately and perfect for being out in the yard.....btw....I am getting ready to start doing some dividing up. When is the latest you can plant in your area? Also need to know what you have replaced so I don't send you any you have already replaced. Send me a pm and let me know. It sure is a beauty. I'm gonna have to get one of those!! Where is the best place to order from. The only place I have ordered my Hosta's from is Bridgewood Gardens....hmmmm or is it Bridgestone Gardens.

WOW!! I just looked up the pricing for this Hosta and I do not believe I have ever seen something with that price tag attached to it....

I hope the price comes down some in the next few years, I am not exactly the green thumb type person, and I hate to spend that money and lose it.

Morning Light needs morning light - but not too much later than that, otherwise the light centres can melt in midday heat. It's a finicky little plant, but very beautiful if you can get its growing conditions just right.

I just can't seem to dissuade you from being generous with me, as well--can I!! LOL
But, I am very touched--just knowing that you are so willing to bless me in such a way!

You're a very special guy! You're not only willingly generous with your hosta, but also with your life,
your space and your time with others! I find that so encouraging, and such a blessing to know about--especially
in today's *self* centered and *self* focused world!

We'll have to 'talk' some more about how generous I can let you be!! :o) It also seems like a very HOT
and difficult time for anyone to be out there digging and dividing hosta!! IMHO--you've earned a well-deserved
'break', instead!! Kick back, and eat some ice cream for awhile--there's always next year--Lord willing!! ;O)
