A Gazillion Slug Eggs Down the Sewer

We've spent the past two days fixing some of our "rookie mistakes".

While we were digging up some hostas that were being smoothered with maple tree roots, I noticed that the ones that had a lot of slug damage had tons of slug eggs hidden in and around the crowns.

So, I set up a sanitation station at the end of the driveway. I had my DH dig up the hostas in one of our beds that had severe slug damage and bring them out to the edge of the driveway. I then took the hose and rinsed all the soil and slug eggs off of the hostas and then soaked them bleach for 30 seconds.

We also dug out all of the soil from the slug infested beds and put fresh soil in.

I hope they survive. They may all be dead in a week, but they sure are the cleanest hostas on the block.
