planning to move to coast

We're getting ready to move out of zone 4 Montana because of the heat. No, really. My wife has MS and hot temperatures cause flairups that put her in a wheelchair or walker for a couple months each summer. Over the last decade our summer's have become noticably hotter with many days in the 90s and 100s.

I'm hoping that fellow gardeners can help us find some suitable places to begin looking for a new home. Our two main criteria are low summer temps (not much above 80) and good community/school system (we have a four year old son). We're starting our search in the Oregon coastal zone, but would welcome any suggestions.

I'm excited about the move, and will no doubt have many questions as we move from one set of challenges ( (last year we had a 130 degree temp range with a winter low of -23 and summer high of 107... only lost one plant) to another (you all can probably tell me the many challenges of gardening along the coast).

I look forward to hearing from you.

Mark
