Latest Sign of Spring

Okiedawn OK Zone 7

A couple of days ago I saw a row of flowering quince in full bloom....but it was about 8 or 10 miles south of the Oklahoma state line in Cooke County, TX.

Since it rained here, the henbit is beginning to bloom although the plants are very small and stunted compared to other years. They'll probably grow a bit more since we received 2" of rain last week.

The frogs continue croaking in the morning and at night and the plum tree continues to bloom, but the nights are colder and that may slow down the plum a little since it isn't in full bloom yet.

We continue to see new calves in the pastures every day. Today, a calf that is about a week old was running through the pasture across the road from us, kicking up his heels and playing. He was a pretty cute sight.
