Raised beds in Oklahoma

Okay, as I've mentioned, I'm new both to gardening and fairly new (10 years) to Oklahoma. All my gardens so far have been raised bed gardens using Square Foot Gardening techniques and Mel's special mix (or at least a version thereof) or topsoil I have purchased from nurseries. These have all been framed beds, using 2X12 boards or railroad ties.

This year, I'm planning a much larger garden, which would prohibit such wasteful spending. I'm planning to do several raised beds using the double-dig method without frames. So here's the question...

Can a raised bed without a frame hold its form in Oklahoma winds and rains?

With these high winds and gullywashers we sometimes get, I would think they would just blow or wash away.

Your help is again appreciated.
