Need privacy hedge shrub suggestions

Hello! I'm looking for suggestions for a fast-growing, dense shrub that grows well in central Oklahoma for a privacy hedge. I want something that is low-maintenance, 6-8' tall (or higher), and drought/heat tolerant. I also have plenty of space to work with. The hedge would be out in an open space about 15-20' from our house.

And I don't want photinias. I have two that came with the house that have outgrown where they were planted, and I hate them. Plus the neighbors have already started a long row of them between our houses, and I'm hoping to add a little variety on the other side of the backyard rather than being surrounded by photinias.

I like the look of variegated (chinese) privets, but I know they are invasive and can cause problems for people with allergies.

Any advice would be much appreciated! I'm hoping to plant them this spring.
