Would someone be so kind

I do believe that at times I have forgotten everything I once knew...anyway, I need some kind person to help me learn how to download pictures to this site. I have Windows xp, dial up (I know, groan!!)a Cannon Power Shot A520 camera and my computer is about 5 years old. I do have an account with photo-bucket that I have not used in probably a year...so if anyone is very patient and knowledgeable I would soooooooo appreciate some help doing this cause I have some pictures of a hosta that I need advice on. You can just e-mail me instead of taking up others time if you want, Thanks ahead of time...Vicki

Actually, doing it here would be great. I could also use the lesson.

go to photo bucket and find the section that says images from my pc.

click on browse.

it will take you to your computer and go to where the photo is stored and click on that photo.

then click on upload below browse on the photobucket site.

You have done a great job- hard work pays off. I just have a couple of thoughts - and I have to confess I haven't seen your other posts so I dont know how this evolved. Please forgive me if these issues have already been addressed. The first thing that jumps out at me is the amount of space between plants. Its perfectly fine to have space between plant if you are doing it intentionally, but if you are going for a full established look you probably have to add more plants. If you want each plant to stand on its own with mulch in between you are on the right track. Depending on what grass you are planting I think the size is still off on that - I would think most tall grasses would be 3 feet wide. The second basic concern i have is the proximity of the laceleaf japanese maple and whatever tree you plant. Thats a lot of competition of roots in a small area. The final thought I have to share is an overall idea about the design. It is not a symmetrical yard and not a symmetrical design; but in striving for balance in the design you are placing certain elements symmetrically, such as the dwarf gold cypress, the joe pye weed and the two large trees. I think those are going to be the focal points in this design and by setting them up symmetrically you are encouraging a viewer's eye to bounce around the yard. My approach would probably be a little different in that I would think about how I would like a visitor to experience the yard and move through the yard both visually and physically. To create that experience I would place these strong focal points in a way that makes movement and flow and less symmetry. By initially getting the placement of the focal points, the supporting plants will fall into place. It is hard to juggle all of the different aspects of plants in a design. You have to think all at one time about light and moisture needs, color, interaction between plants, parts of the design that already exist and cant be moved, other needs such as sharing the space with pets, views, sizes, etc. Its a lot to consider!

Oh Tom, many plants.lol Mostly orchids and tropicals...No succulents this time around. Some are upstairs in a very cool room but in a nice sunny window, and the rest under lights in the basement. Yeah, it can cost quite a bit when not covered by solar cover, but I figure it's the only thing I spend my money on for a few moths now that I sacrifice spending money some where else. I have no idea regarding Easy share as I have always refused to load the bloated software that comes with digital cameras. Hower, try this...... right click Start click Explore in the new window look down the left side for the CD/DVD player. If there is a plus sign beside it click that. Either click on the CD/DVD player or the folder that dropped down after cl;icking the plus sign to highlight it. Your photos should now be showing in the right pane. You now have 2 choices, you can either right click on the top photo listed and then click 'Preview' to see it and then the rest by using either the mouse or down button on the keybaord. Or you can click 'View' at the top of your screen and click 'Thumbnails'. Now you see all the photos in miniature and use the same right click and 'Preview to see the photos. Once you are in the Preview mode there is a small icon underneath to start a slideshow, they change about every 3 or 4 seconds by default.

All of us have had to try figure that one out and usually asked here, so Caliloo was kind enough to put a detailed tutorial in the FAQ section. Once you have pasted the tags into your message check "preview message" to see them before hitting submit.

but lets start with one term.. we upload them to the forum ...

we do NOT steal others pix by downloading them ... for profit of course ...

put them UP to the web for our viewing pleasure...

down to your computer or hard drive ...

Okay...read the FAQ and then maybe this will help too:

You upload your original picture to photobucket where it is "stored" until you delete it. It is not stored on the GardenWeb forum.

GardenWeb doesn't allow you to store the photo (which saves on storage space for them). This means your photo does NOT exist in the stored message you typed. Instead there has to be a way to refer to the photo in photobucket so we use HTML code, in your typed message, that points at the photo in photobucket. When the message is displayed in the forum for people to read, the HTML points to the photos and displays the photo.

Now most people don't know how to construct the HTML code. So lucky you, photobucket does it for you for each photo (made available for you under each photo in photobucket). You simply copy the HTML code and paste it into the body of the message at the location you want the photo displayed. If more than one photo, copy and paste more than one set of html code from photobucket into the message.

If you do this correctly, it will display correctly in the preview.

When you come across a message with a photobucket error, it is because someone deleted (or moved) the photo from photobucket and the forum message has HTML that is now pointing to nothing.

I suppose this could have done more harm than good but I really hope it helps.
