Trouble viewing Pictures

Hi,

I just had my pictures put on a CD at Target. I put the CD into my CD Rom and it automatically runs but I can't view the pictures. I haven't done this in a long time and I have forgotten what I should do to view them on my computer. I have WinXPSP3. The CD's are Kodak and I do have Kodak Easyshare installed but I don't see them going there either. I know I am not doing something right so would someone be so kind as to walk me through this?

I have no idea regarding Easy share as I have always refused to load the bloated software that comes with digital cameras. Hower, try this......

right click Start
click Explore
in the new window look down the left side for the CD/DVD player.
If there is a plus sign beside it click that.
Either click on the CD/DVD player or the folder that dropped down after cl;icking the plus sign to highlight it.
Your photos should now be showing in the right pane.
You now have 2 choices, you can either right click on the top photo listed and then click 'Preview' to see it and then the rest by using either the mouse or down button on the keybaord. Or you can click 'View' at the top of your screen and click 'Thumbnails'. Now you see all the photos in miniature and use the same right click and 'Preview to see the photos.

Once you are in the Preview mode there is a small icon underneath to start a slideshow, they change about every 3 or 4 seconds by default.

If viewing the pics on this 1 cd is all you want to do, then do as owbist suggests. But if you want to do more, there is a variety of free image viewers available which provide tools to see-crop-rename-resize-print-create slideshows and more. I prefer Irfanview but there are others. If you decide to try Irfanview, I recommend you uncheck the option to install a toolbar in your browser (I just don't like toolbars in general...but your mileage may vary). Post again if you need more help.

sayhello - did you upload your photos yet? After that, you just click your mouse over the box that says HTML code. It will automatically copy that text. Then you paste it (use Ctrl+V) to the text box here that you post in. It will look like: (a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank")(img src="http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k146/VinoBrillante05-29-081.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket")(/a) but with carrots instead of the ( ) above.

Photobucket embeds their address in the pictures. If you click on one, it will take you to the Photobucket homepage. To see someone's album, right click on the picture and select "properties" then copy the address and paste it in your browser. The owner of the album must have their settings set to public, or you will need their password.

Thank you both for your help with this :) I am running windows 7, IE 8. I tried out firefox the other week and didn't like it, just not used to it I guess, so I uninstalled it. I think that may be what part of the problem is as since then I have been having this issue. I downloaded the malwarebytes and ran it with zero findings. Same as with my McAfee and Spybot. I am current with all updates too. It is quite annoying, to post here today I had to keep clicking on pg 2 to get there and find my message and then keep clicking on it till it would finally open. It just keeps going back to the main page. I've never had issues here before in all the years I have been on here.

OK.... now I can't even create a NEW post at all..... I tried all day yesterday... and twice today... I am not even trying to add a picture.... I go through the motions tell the post I want it to be in roses and in antique roses... it appears to go through... no ERRORS whatsoever.... but the post NEVER appears.... either I will get tons of theses post appearing at sometime or other... or they are broken I don't want to hijack someone else's thread, but it SURE would be able to post a question!!!!! Grrr.

I'd be curious to know the file extension .JPG or .KDC or whatever.

You should be able to always open any type of extension with any program you want by right clicking on a filename.EXT and choose Open With ... and select and set as default to always open with the program of your choice.
DslReports Sofware forum had a link there to Paint Shop Pro version on some type of Freeware deal. Mild advertising prompting you to upgrade at either start up or shut down. Many people love PSP. Its a fairly advaced yet simple graphic program. Quite large too \- but a price that we all like.

Hi owbist, azinoh and Mikie,

Thanks for all of your imputs, you had things there that I never thought about doing. It helped a lot.

One thing that I did find out though is that one of the CD's is empty and I was charged for it. I also know that I don't have all of my pictures and I am going back to them to have them redo the pictures right. I didn't know how to check at first to find out if there were missing pictures or no pictures on the CD's. I counted them from each CD and that is when I discovered that one of them is blank and has no pictures at all. They had a new way of doing their pictures and the gal who did them acted like she didn't know a whole lot about it. Anyway now I have to go back and complain to them that she didn't do it right.

Thanks for all of your help, without it I would not have known about these problems.
