Off of your list, I have Lakeside Shoremaster and Galaxy, and I love them both.

Where did you find Gentle Giant on sale? That is one I would like to have too.

This was the first year out of three that I've bought more than 10 plants, so i've been making lists and categorizing and checking to see that i maintain good variety in my choices.

A couple things I do notice, though. atleast two of the plants on your list are on the "spring dessication burn hosta list" - dupage delight and color glory. you might want to consider substituting something similar such as paul's glory or paradigm. i added both those to my collection this year.

a couple references that helped me "learn the ropes":

"hosta lists" with every category you coudl think of. take a look at the "difficult to grow" list, and choose from it sparingly, atleast at first.

i picked up bright lights, heat wave, lonesome dove, and rootin' tootin off your list this year :-)

I highly recommend squash casserole - gorgeous wavy edges, good grower, doesn't seem to be bothered by pests, color brightens up landscape.... have had mine @5-6 years.

I don't have all of these, but I grow 22 of them and have seen most of the others...

My first group would be

Bright Lights (tokudama, supposed to be more vigorous than Tokudama Aureomarginata... quite beautiful... slow and worth it)
Devon Green (green Halcyon, no wax, shiny... gorgeous form... a perfect "green")
June Fever (one of the very brightest in the spring, yellow sport with thin green margin of Devon Green - two of them are wonderful together)
Lakeside Beach Captain
Lakeside Shoremaster (only one of these two Lakesides... pretty similar... Walters quit carrying LBC because they thought it too similar to LS) (seems to me pretty similar to St. Paul / Paradise Glory)
Squash Casserole (I love this giant, low, ruffled, no fuss yellow... and of course, I'd have to add Yesterday's Memories and Key Lime Pie)

my second group would be...

Candy Dish (I don't have it, but was pleased every time I saw one in a tour garden - such a neat form...)
Dark Star (you could skip this one if you have Wolverine and/or Lakeside Dragonfly... to me it fits with those two in that particular longer, pointy leave with wide light margins... actually, I think I like the other two better...)
Heat Wave (a sport from Bright Lights... mine are just second year, so I don't know... so far not as subtley beautiful as BL - but pretty darn dramatic)
Jewel of the Nile (kind of unruly... variegaion varies from leaf to leaf, with some halfsies... and mine has a big yellow sport that will be difficult to remove... and still its worth it...)
Journey's End (magnificent specimen... maybe have to add its momma, Choo Choo Train)
Mango Tango (dark horse for the list - but as the latest in the summer music family, reverse of stitch in time... just have to have it)
September Sun (I think a planting of August Moon and one each of its g/y and y/g sports is one of the most attractive, least cost, non-fussy plantings ever)

thanks for the reference to the spring dessication list. The area where these would end up does get bright spring sun, so like you suggested, I would probably swap these out for my established Paradigm & Paul's Glory.... They're both in pretty deep shade now and would likely benefit a lot from a move to more sun!

I bid on a SC this year at the Hosta Society Auction.... went for upwards of $50. Thanks, I'll just order it!

I would replace COlor Glory with Paradise Glory. Pg is much less of a sun-scald risk, and a nicer plant IMHO

Nice list - I second Dave's comments. I put Color Glory out in the woods to fend for its self because the burning is UGLY.

They're pretty good,except for White Wall Tires. I have one,and the only time it looks good is early spring,and that lasts just a short time,before it turns streaky green. Mine always comes early,and almost always freezes with late spring freezes. But,if you're dead set for it,who am I to dissuade you! Lol! Phil

I have DuPage Delight and like Frances Williams it tends to suffer from spring burn. This year it was especailly bad. I also have Beckoning and I think it tends to like warmer weather than I have here in New England. It's kinda ugly. Happy growing! TIM

I trashed DuPage Delight & Color Glory long ago...the burn was much worse than on F Williams for me...just looked so bad. Jewel of the Nile & September Sun are both top choices.

Journey's End is one of the best hostas in my yard and a fast grower.

Venero Gardens is selling a well established Dick Ward that you won't see anywhere else. That would be the prize of the year.

If you get September Sun, plant it in full sun. I once saw a huge one at Rice Gardens and it was unbelievable, one of the best hostas I've ever seen. To get an idea what it can become, see page 325 of The Color Encyclopedia of Hostas by Grenfell.

Love your list and would add, that I have had both LS Shoremaster & LS Beach Captain
and I definitely prefer 'Shoremaster'! Strange--since I normally love the tetraploids of anything, best,
but the ones I have of LSBC the stripe is pretty narrow (I also agree it's more like 'St. Paul') whereas
the LSS is much wider and nicer, IMO!

I'd love to have a 'Roy Klehm' too--next year--maybe! :o)

Oh, definitely get the 'Dick Ward'--and I LOVE 'my' JOTN, too--these two are on my top 'five' list!!

Getting most of what is on your list will give you an awesome collection, fer shur!!!
