Jan. 25th Drought Monitor Map For U.S.A.

Okiedawn OK Zone 7

This week's drought monitor map reflects no statistical change in the Oklahoma portion of the drought monitor map.

Since there's nothing new on the Oklahoma portion to view, I linked the entire map of the USA so you could see where the drought areas are.

This is the first time in quite a while that the south has looked as bad as it looks now while at the same time, California looks terrific.

Even a portion of Alaska is abnormally dry and so is a portion of Hawaii.

If significant, measurable rainfall doesn't fall soon, it looks like Oklahoma's January 2011 rainfall totals will be significantly below average, which isn't a good way to start a new year. However, it isn't unexpected. In many Oklahoma counties (though I don't know if this is true of every county), January is the driest month of the year.
