Latest Boston Area Plant Swap Info

Hello gardening friends,

I am trying to start a new thread so people who check the NE forum see the information about the swap immediately. The original thread has dropped way back. (Well, now is second because I did not originally make this a new post)

Fran, can you post the link, again, on this thread?

All, We need to keep this post up near the top of the thread. If it drops down too far, we need to bump it up.

I hope a few people understand what I'm getting at!

great idea to keep the post at the top. Hadn't noticed that it had fallen off the first page.

POSTING HERE AND WILL E-MAIL ALL THAT I SENT DIRECTIONS TO ABOUT THE DATE CHANGE FOR THE SWAP NEW DATE IS: SUNDAY JUNE, 4, 2006 TIME AND LOCATION ALL IS THE SAME. Now, I've finished potting up all the seedlings, hundreds of them from WS, here is the list. rose campion lychnis angel's blush assorted dward snapdragons assorted cosmos california poppy purple gleam and white annual poppies perennial poppies morning glory 4 0'clocks assorted bachelor buttons mixed toadflax lobelia crystal palace lobelia trailing saphire lupins, blue and cherry red gazania mixed colors baslam impatiens nasturtium jewel mix sweet alyssum tall alyssum nicotiana alata probably some I missed righting down Also have 2 large sedum, unknown variety that look really beautiful to start then they flop over and the center is bare. will dig out if anyone wants them. a very small hosta I have to dig out. plenty of lily of the valley I can dig out. spreading into my flower bed I believe they are bright purple siberian iris, again spreading into my flower bed. Not sure it's the right time to dig them out, but they have been here for 26 years, planted by the prior owners. Can dig them out if anyone wants some. especially the ones in the flower bed. forsythia branches, all you want that I can cut fresh. 3 potted up pussywillow bushes that may or may not root. A friend just left with me the following and she will be here at the swap. fresh dug up chives, oregano black eyed susan bleeding heart vinca minor And a neighbor will be coming with vegetable seedlings. I have gotten several e-mail for directions and info from a few to bring goodies. Please post anything that you are bringing here on this post so that everyone can see what you are bringing. MAYALENA has offered to bring coffee. Depending on how many actually come, we may need more than 1 of those box coffee from dunkin donuts. lISARD is baking something and bringing plates and plastic utensils. thanks for bringing these things. Looks like I'm not going to be able to make the new time. However, Mai has kindly offered to pick up some plants for me, if there are leftovers, if that is OK with you. (depending of course on space in her car) Stuff I would like: HOSTA! (from Chelone and anyone with extras) tiger lilies (from Greening) white dianthus (littleonefb) iris forsythia bleeding heart dwarf snaps (littleonefb) lobelia (littleonefb) actually, littleonefb, all of your little ws seedlings look like things I'd love, if they're potted in little pots and if mai has the space you can pretty much give me several of each....:-) I hope this is OK with you. i'm really sad to be missing the swap, but rehearsals come first.... Just to make sure this thread contains more than the link to the thread on the exchange side and the word bump, here's a synopsis.

LOCATION: Billerica, MA.
DATE: June 3, 2006. the first Sat in June.
RAIN DATE: June 10, 2006
TIME: 10 am until we're done (or when no Siberian Iris are left, whichever comes first)

Can't wait!

Hey, are we going to keep this thread at the top for a whole month? Maybe we should start a new one in a couple of weeks....

Would you post the new thread?

I see several angelica gigas seedlings in my garden. If I remember, are the angelicas you have different from gigas? I feel like I can't have too much of this exotic and hardy creature.

DTD, that was a pretty funny crack about Siberian Iris. SO TRUE. I am so close to Billerica, hope I can make it to the swap. My acquisitions from last fall's swap are starting to make themselves known, and it's so exciting!

Hi Marie - I've got some gigas (the red one) and A. archangelica, a taller white one. I love the red, because the color is so fabulous, but the height of the white makes it a standout too. They bloom at different times, another bonus.

Love the foliage, too - it's similar on both types. I'll bring several of the whites, I've only got a couple of gigas left (they are being shaded out by some hollies).

Hey alicepalace - yes, isn't it fun to see swap plants growing? It is so nice, seeing plants from lots of different forum members. The fall swap was really wonderful. I seriously meant to leave with an empty car, but ... I'm glad I brought home these treasures.

Hi Everyone,
It's great to see more posting for the plant swap.
Instead of posting another thread I think it's better to keep things to 1 or 2 threads. Last year for the spring swap we ended up with several threads going about it and everything got very confusing. We had to jump to several different post to find out what was going on, what people where bring for plants and seedlings, another for what goodies people where bringing etc.
I really think if we can keep things to this thread and the one I posted with more detailed info on the swap on the exchange page, there will be less confussion for everyone.

Oh, my WS seedlings are exploding in germination. No doupts
about it, I'll have seedlings up the ying yang for everyone to take. Won't be sure about the number of each I'll have till mid May, but be prepared for, I would guess 100 seedlings for the taking, since I'll be interrestd in only a select group of seedlings for myself.
